GSW Draft Pick Watch

Not sure what you mean by this......

IF we get the GS pick it most likely will be in that range if all goes well.

So yes, Utah would be drafting around the #8 position.... but the poster did mention 8-10 which could be very possible.

Utah's pick on the other hand should be in the #11-14 range giving us 2 picks in one of the deeper drafts in the past 10 years.

VS... getting the pick the following year in a weak draft (Since most underclassmen will have come out) and it being a 10-14 pick (Which would be a 15-20 pick most likely in this draft)
Everyone seems horny for GS to win every game. The pick is not going to be at 8 if people get what they want. It's really simple.

As stated by others, I think those that have posted asking for good fortune to shine upon GSW, are just wanting the pick to safe .. even if it isn't #8, specifically.
I'm not rooting for GSW, per se, but I will admit I'd rather them be sitting around 10, than 8, just in case they decide to tank and/or get a lucky ping pong bounce.

I would rather them sit higher than 8 because if they are close to 8th spot then then towards the end they will tank to keep that pick. I would rather get the 12th pick this year than hoping for next years pick. But your right we dont want them barely missing the playoffs.

I understand why people are siding with safety here, but elation at GS winning and sentiments like

As a Jazz fan... Nowadays there's nothing better than seeing a GSW win.

Nothing.

are just ****ing dumb. Maybe I just need to take it out on ironic-stacked consonants-that-don't-stack/resident genius, but his views are represented a lot more than the 'they need to win, but they need to lose more' stance.

I didn't read back and agree with you Numberica.

Yes we want the #8 pick... agreed... but I'm not rooting for Golden State by any means. With 10 games left would I rather have them in the 10 spot vs. 8 spot? Yes.... if that makes sense.

I think you would agree with me to that point and apologize as I didn't read back on what you quoted.

I take no offense. We're here to exchange ideas and not everyone is up-to-the-minute informed on what everyone has posted. Whatever. I think I'm mostly dwelling on one pea-brained comment anyway.

But yeah, let whatever is going here continue without my surliness.

This is exactly my sentiment. I'd rather be in the safer #10 spot.

As for rooting for GSW, with Curry struggling with injury - who knows how well they'll play down the stretch with only Ellis carrying the team. PLUS the fact that they get their pick back if they go below #8 - this gives them great incentive to suddenly tank if they're anywhere close to the #8 spot near the end of the season.

We all know they're not a playoff team - they're not consistent enough to make it. So any hope of the GSW pick being higher than #12 is just not realistic.

On this basis, I'm happy for them to get any win right now just to be on the safe side.

GSW just traded for Bogut!! They traded Udoh, Kwame and Monta!! They get Jackson back. This could be horrible for us since they won't get Bogut till next year. They may be getting ready to tank.

They're not necessarily tanking. I highly, highly doubt they will since it's Jackson's first year as a coach and I see him as someone who demands a lot from his players and has a lot of pride. Plus they still have Curry, SJax, rookie Thompson who's been playing well, Lee, Biedrins, Dorrell Rush, Wright and (I have no idea how he's doing) Charles Jenkins. Shaky but not awful by any means. And right now they're just the 11th worst team in the league so with just 25 or so games left, they'd have to really fall apart. Don't get me wrong, they could go 6-19 the rest of the way. But they'd still have to climb (downwardly) four spots to screw us, and even then, they're not guaranteed that 7th pick as one of the other teams who finishes in slots 8-14 could very well jump them in the lottery.

Sounds like GS is trying to tank with that trade. I mean Udoh was playing better, Kwame comes off the books and they get Ellis. I guess this makes the Bucks better and that means they can pass an Eastern conference team down. I just don't see how you can explain GS making this move except for tanking it.

Boy, looking at it, it's kind of a bad trade for Golden State, even after Bogut heals. Looks like a salary dump to me by Golden State.

Well, the 'good news' is that the Utah Jazz are really good at developing second round picks........

"Alright guys, go out tonight and suck. Play with little focus and even less effort." - Mark Jackson

You guys are nuts if you think he's going to tolerate tanking. It's his first coaching job and he comes across as someone who's old school and has way too much pride to do something like that. Not to mention even if they do finish something like 7-18 down the stretch, they still might not tumble all the way down to #7 (they're the 11th worst team currently) and even if they do, we'd still have a shot that someone would jump them in the lottery.

Personally, I like where they sit right now. It's just about perfect imo.

Warriors beat writer Marcus Thompson (@gswscribe) tweeted "Said one Warriors player: "So we're just giving up on the season?" "

Also reports that Epke Udoh was seen smiling at a TV in the locker room as the report broke.

Mark Jackson might be old school, but it doesn't sound like he's got the team under control. It doesn't sound like they have any confidence. And in Udoh's case, it doesn't sound like some of those players even wanna be there.

Tolerate? His FO just traded Monta for a player that is done for the year. I don'[t think you're really grasping the idea of tanking. It doesn't mean the coach is losing on purpose. I give it about a week before they decide to shut down Curry for the rest of the year.

Utah isn't completely screwed yet, but it's not looking good. GS is definately going to try and keep that pick.
