Hayward/Burks to play in the Indy Pro-Am

https://www.pacersdigest.com/showthread.php?t=65123&page=5

Did some creeping at a pacers forum, seeing as Id expect some of the posters to check the event out. Well, they did, and seems like Alec Burks played quite well.

Excitement for next season = steadily rising......

But it is Solan he would always play the good defender like Raja Bell. Solan system really was focused more on the pg and pf. They have really not had good C's or SG's even during there winning years. Thats just my opinion I doubt if Solan was coach they draft Burks. He is a weak defender right now and needs a lot of coahing. But the kid will be really good in a few years IMO.

about his handles that's why i wanted him you just cant teach those handles . He will be a great scorer in a few years IMO. And his weakness is shooting but in the NBA all you do all the time in practice is shoot easiest thing to improve if you are a gym rat.
Too bad Solan [Sloan] isn't around to scare some horse sense into Burks :| ...

The only reason Sloan never tied SGs into his game is because he could never run his offense through one, seeing as hes had to deal with a **** collection of SGs throughout his coaching career, excluding horny. Im sure if he had an SG with Alec Burks-esque penetrating abilities hed adjust. And the Jazz have never had a good center or shooting guard?? Uhhh Jeff Hornacek and Mark Eaton??

Jeff Malone averaged close to 18pts before being traded for Horny and besides Big Mark, he helped make Okur an AS and that's really about it. I know before his injury Felton Spencer looked like he was progressing nicely.

Don't know if this has been discussed on the forum before, but it looks like Favors played in a Pro-Am in Atlanta. This is from his twitter on Jul 5:

@dfavors14 Derrick Favors
Can't wait to start playing this Pro am in Atlanta on Saturday #beastmode

anyone read anything on this?

A couple guys who weren't good shooters coming out of college from the Jazz past... Karl Malone, Paul Millsap. And as I recall, Julius Erving and Lebron didn't have much of an outside shot either when they first played in the NBA...

Add Magic Johnson and Jason Kidd to the list who couldn't shoot from the outside but improved during their careers.

Burks scheduled to play tomorrow as well together with Christian Eyenga of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Pacers forum seems to have been following Burks as of late, so Id recommend us to take a gander in their forum after the game occurs, to see if he did somethign significant outside the boxscore (which he did last time)

Any word on how Burks did?

It's worth noting that half the posts in that thread are people getting horny about Lance Stephenson playing well. Yes, the same Lance Stephenson that wasn't allowed around the Pacers for a while after beating up his girlfriend and then went on to impress by scoring less points than shots attempted (33.3% from the field) and average about as many turnovers as assists.

Lance is an idiot. Another example of how NOT to hone your skills. Very telling that a guy rated in the Top 25 of his class got no offers from any BCS school other than .. Cinci. None.

I feel like theyd be much more critical and less biased if they were analyzing a player that doesnt play for their team.

FWIW, I tweeted and asked for specifics after this guy BcamONE praised about Burks. Here is the response from the official IndyProAmHoops:

His game is so smooth you gotta see it to appreciate it!!!
