Hayward/Burks to play in the Indy Pro-Am

From MikeWellsNBA (Pacers beat writer):

"Stephenson and Utah's Alec Burks are the best players in the gym. They're scoring whenever they want and making nice passes."

"Stephenson and Alec Burks had 32 points each."

Stephenson and Alec Burks had 32 points each.

Burks finished with 33, including 5 threes being defended by Shelvin Mack and Daquean Cook. According to a guy on the Pacers board, unlike Stephenson, Burks was playing both ends of the floor. 33 isn't terribly impressive in a Pro Am summer league. Playing defense in a Pro Am summer league is impressive.

33 might not be that impressive in a regular game but when your teammate has 32 in the same game its hard to get a whole lot more than that. Only one ball on the court. But nice to hear that he is playing well not matter where he is playing. At least he is playing and working.

I remember a few months ago, I would post (along with a few others) that the Jazz making the playoffs would be much better for the team than getting some "consistently crappy 12th overall pick" after missing the playoffs.

I think it is now reasonable to retract this statement, and point out my stupidity. Alec Burks, I seriously cannot wait to see you play in Jazz uniform. 5 three pointers also excites me a little bit.

Finally some footage of a Jazz player. It looks like a college pick up game, but at least Burks is doing what he should be, dominating.

Our young core has me SO excited. I think it would pay huge dividends to sign someone like Battier who can teach defense, teach professionalism and work ethic and study habits (game tape) as well as fill a void at the 3. He's not nearly what he was a few years ago but I think a 2 year, 8M deal or 3 year 10M deal would be wise for this team going forward. He fills an immediate need and brings the leadership and experience we sorely need in my opinion.

AK may have more left in the tank so to speak but he's not what this team needs right now to get to where we want to be 2-5 years from now.

If Battier is okay with coming of the bench that would be valuable. But I am sure Battier will be some where with championship aspirations.

You could make the argument that Bell would provide a lot of what Battier might. And since the chances of Bell being traded continue to shrink (the way I see it), it makes it that much more unlikely the Jazz would go after Battier.

But I agree on the basic premise.

Come off the bench behind who? Millsap? If that's the case, I see your point. If it's Miles or AK, ugh.

Here is a good video that shows Burks and Lance Stevenson. Burks is number 15, Stevenson is 1. Burks jumper looks good to me. Also, Burks has a nice pass near the end of the video.
Looks like the video was taken off get a message:
"Lance Stephenson..."
This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by UMG

Did he beat his GF again and they needed the video as evidence of where he was?

Burks looked good. Hit a bunch of 3's and had some nice drive-and-dishes.

Man, Lance is a ball hog. He scored a lot, but looked to go one on one too much for my liking.

Burks basically had a couple nice highlight dunks, passes, and drives to the rim. The video had about 5 3 pointers from Burks, all pull ups in his man's face. The defense was laughably bad. No help D on anything.

I need to see this video. Because hoops madness is creeping in to my brain. Was this posted anywhere else?
