Hayward Off-Season Workout Vid w/ Bob McRoberts

Ehhh, not really.

It depends on the player. A quick tight cross works better for a quicker player. They don't really need to create much movement from their defender to get by them, so quick moves work better.

Wider crossovers work for players who have strength and want to get their opponent more off-balance before making their counter.

I don't think so. A tight crossover is always better. The distance traveled by the ball is shorter, making the crossover quicker, regardless of whether you're a slow or quick player. Also, width of crossover is not related to creating movement, as that is accomplished by your legs and your hips, and not with the ball. Have you not seen Curry break ankles and send his man to the floor with his crosses? Tight crosses also allows you to more efficiently transfer your momentum forward, instead of having to drag the ball from 4 feet away.

Here's a bunch of players discussing it.

Well, for one thing, they were discussing Iverson's wide cross-over, which was just ridiculous and often bordering on carrying. Hayward's and Dwill's aren't that wide (and it's not like either of them never utilize a tight cross-over either). I think there are clearly advantages to both approaches to a cross-over and you see Steph Curry utilize a wider cross-over from time to time. It's not like he always does the tight 1-2 cross like Thomas is describing (also it sounded like a lot of Thomas just jerking himself off).

Looks like Hayward invited Hood.

Cooley has Indiana ties, so it makes sense why he is down there, but not Hood, so it must have been a specific invite by Hayward.

Holy ****, I didn't even notice that the first time watching. I can barely finish a set with 45's.

Looks like Cooley and Hood were with him (0:20). Love the way he sets up his step-back or drive with the spin move or a crossover. He's also strong enough now to put a body into other players. Can't wait to see him paired with Alec or Rodney. How do you defend the two wings we'll always have on the court? There's no hedging off a Millsap or Ingles.

Yes, he invited the entire Jazz team but said no one could make it (other than Hood and Cooley) because of their schedules.

Insanely impressive. With a bar, he's probably capable of benching around 350-375 then. I tell people all the time how jacked he looked last year. He's just so damn pale, you don't see it like you see it on a black guy. Hayward is absolutely jacked and shredded. Add that to a crazy ball iq and skill level and I think he's capable of cracking a top 15 player status this year. 21/5.5/5 on 45/39/85.

Dat post game he's showing is gonna be huge. Huge.
Agreed.

Hayward doesn't get enough love from jazzfanz. (I'm guilty too)

His step back jumper is as good a weapon as about any move in the league.

Not surprising. Most of them put in their work at P3 and getting together during the summer league period while Hayward was doing the paternity thing. I'm sure those who weren't preparing for FIBA games were taking some time off for vacation before training camp begins.
