The two players most special in this team are Enes Kanter and Derrick Favors. We have to keep them more involved in offense especially Kanter. Hayward is a good player, but Kanter and Favors could be special. Look at Kanter how good he is performing coming from a shoulder injury, beeing not in shape physical and mentally. Look at Favors, he is growing with confidense, gettin better every game.
Especially Hayward is taking to many shots and he can not hit them efficiently, maybe he will never be able to score efficiently as a first option. Kanter and Favors are taking 11 and 12 shots per game, both have to take atleast like 14 and 15 shots per game. It would not just help our bigs grow and learn to scorer consistently at many as possible positions, it also would be much more efficient than Hayward taking bad shots again and again.

The grow of Kanter and Favors is much more important than the grow of "I have to get a max " Hayward. No racist but, a 6´8 white guy, who is a spot-up shooter, you can find everywhere. But, their is just no limit how dominant you could be with two dominant and grown elite BIG-MAN down on the court.

They have to start giving Favors and Enes as many positions as they are giving Hayward. And also Trey Burke could be a important piece of this Team, especially getting the Bigs and involved and creating space for Haywards spot-up shooting with good rebounding and passing ability.

Do not make the mistake and think that I hate Hayward, i really like this dude and his sunshine smiling face, but he has to realize that he is no max-player and has to accept being the 3rd option at Utahs future offense. He could be a elite spot-up shooter/catch and shoot player, but thats about it. Utah Jazz future is bright, building a competitive team around this young guys, with a TOP5 draft Pick next year could create a new force in the NBA. But, its important for Hayward to accept his role at this team.

time for hayward to get off world of warcraft and start practicing his shot.

5.9% shooting....

That's even better then my shooting!

hayward needs a new haircut. its the new haircut thats killing him right now.

prolly is gona have a mental breakdown and shave his hair completely. Might even look like a real man.

"calm down" is the right phrase.
sometimes you cannot connect. You should recognize it and play accordingly.
Hayward is a great bball player BTW.

add on: if he were a Croatian, he would have been even more omni-dexterous (is this even a word?).

A pet peeve I have with NBA players, not just Hayward, but when you are not shooting well and a team is (kanter), stop shooting and get the ball to the hot guy. It seems a lot of NBA players do not understand this concept. I have seen Kanter and Favors make two shots in a row and then they are just frozen out for 5 minutes because our poor shooting guards feel a need to get their shots.

Now Hayward did other things. He has 11 assists so he was passing the ball but sometimes when your shot is not falling you need to keep on passing. Hayward could have had 15 -17 assists last night if he stop shooting it and passed it to Kanter or Favors. A smart player knows when to do this unfortunately most NBA do not always get it.

Reasons why Gordon shoots so much.

1. He listens to Locke and thinks he's a star.
2. Listens to his agent and needs a big average for contract talks.
3. Thinks he might as well chuck it, who is he going to pass to, JLIII.
4. Thinks a big average will get him to the all-star game.
5. Really believes the press clippings from his home town newspaper.
6. Ty is telling him to shoot the ball in his brilliant time outs.
7. Instead of playing shooting guard, he is created a new position of chucking guard.
8. Next shot will be the beginning of a hot streak.
9. Thinks he's Jerry West. (That one is for Hotrod Huntley)
10. He does have Sidney Lowe as a shooting coach.

Your notion of Hayward is way off base. He brings so much more than just a spot up shooter. The guy can still be effective even if his shot isn't falling. You couldn't say that about Korver, a spot up shooter (when he was here).

Agree and disagree.

A smart player will make the best play in the flow of the game. To force yourself not to shoot when the best play is to take the shot is not a smart play, regardless of whether you feel you are having an off night or not. These are pro players. They will have slumps and runs. Yes, they should try to orchestrate plays for the guy with the "hot hand" but law of averages being what it is that hot hand can just as easily turn cold (look at the Spurs just this summer, rode the hot hand of otherwise role players until it went ice cold for the wrong 2 games). And in the flow of the game, the smart players make the smart plays regardless of who is "hot" or not.

The bigs can't score quickly enough to be a low post focal point. Kanter takes damn near twice as long as Jefferson to put his moves on the basket lady. Favors has been slightly better.

he had a bad game. Hayward rarely has as many shot attempts as he did last night. He was trying to get out of the slump, and the coaches and teammates were telling him to shoot. If you listen to Jeremy Evans post game video, he specifically said "I told him to shoot 5 more" because as a shooter, you have to shoot to break out of the funk.

I do agree that Kanter needs more touches. I think Favors offensive game is right where I expected it to be, and until some of his shots have better looking form, I'd say his current involvement on the offensiv e end is about right. Let him figure it out in practice.

I would like to see Lucas, Jefferson and Burks (just until he recollects himself) tone it down, but that's not going to happen. The defense leaves them open for a reason, so they have to shoot to try to keep the defense honest. ... Yes, I know lucas had a good game last night, but I don't see it happening again.

I really think that Hayward's percentages will look a lot better when Burke is playing starter minutes and NOT playing the off guard. Running the team in absence of a point guard has really put a lot of strain on Hayward and Burks, and their shot selections. It's really hard to make shots when someone passes back to you and you're immediately double teamed and you only have 2 seconds left before a shot clock violation.

This.

Nothing worse than seeing a timid player pass up a wide open three with <10 seconds left to a covered player stuck on the wing who eventually chucks up a contested three.

"chuking" = "choking" + "puking"?

But to the topic of the thread, I agree that if Hayward continues to shoot, eventually he won't miss 16 shots. Am I mis-remembering that most of his misses were short?

I remember him taking at least 4 three pointers, and most of those looked like good shots. Just didnt fall.

Well don't assume the hot hand has cooled off. If Kanter or Favors miss 3 in a row than take a shot within the offense. Of course if Hayward could have gotten to the rim and got a layup then go ahead and shoot it. However, it makes more sense to me that if you're shooting 1-10 you might want to concentrate on getting other guys shots who are making them. Many times NBA players will force up a bad shot or feel as though it is their time to shoot no matter if their teammate is shooting it well. It happens A LOT especially with young guys and bad teams.
