What's new

Haywood just officially signed with the Celtics

I'm going to go out on a limb here (and probably make some enemies):

I think the thing that has really upset Jazz fans is the simple fact that Hayward left the Jazz for "greener pastures.

I disagree. I would have been equally pissed if he did what he did and went to Brooklyn. Maybe even more pissed cause I wouldn't understand it. I at least understand why he went to Boston. (He wants to make sweet love to Stevens)

If you're a salesman for a company and interview with a new one you don't tell them "I'll come work for you as long as you give my old company two of your best five accounts"
Except that's not the way it would have gone down. Only Jazz fans were expecting Crowder to come our way. But once Boston dumped Avery, they no longer had to clear salary. It could have been a simple Hayward to Boston for a TPE. Utah could have even chipped in a 2nd-round pick. It's a courtesy. Chicago did it when Boozer signed with them.

I know why Ainge didn't do it. 1) He's an ******* and every GM hates him. There may be loyalty among thieves with 29 GM's, but Ainge isn't in that group. He feels a need to screw everyone else if he can. 2) He absolutely has to WIN this acquisition. Can you imagine the backlash if Utah's record is as good without Hayward and Boston doesn't improve by very much - if at all? By not giving Utah an exception, Jazz couldn't go out and make a significant uneven trade.

He can go where he wants and I don't really think we missed out on much with the delay so maybe that's why I'm not so upset.

It's done and over and I didn't care to get into a Hayward conversation again I'm just sick of hearing about how Chris Paul is some saint cause he made sure the clippers were taken care of when that has nothing to do with it.
Gallinari for one.

Gallinari for one.

Did you listen to 1280's interview with DL yesterday? They referenced a pitch DL & Quin recently made to a client of one of the most powerful/long-time agents in the business in DC. I'm guessing this must be Gallinari (Arn Tellem) or Porter (David Falk). And more than once DL has referenced hearing the news about Hayward after leaving a 5-hour flight. My guess is DL was trying his best to prepare for the contingency that Hayward left.

It may be that Gallinari just decided the Jazz were too late. Or it could be that he decided that he just preferred the Clips in any event. But it sounds like there's a pretty strong chance that DL had been in contact with Gallinari's camp.

I'm sure he was working on Plan B. Lindsey probably made a few calls as early as the 1st. But by July 3rd, the deal with LA was essentially done. Gallinari wasn't going to just wait around until the evening of the 4th. And then Utah would have needed to make some roster moves, just like Boston had to.

Porter was never a serious option as a FA, IMO. To make an offer, Utah would have needed to clear a ton of cap space. I could be wrong, but after renouncing everything but the hold for Ingles, they could only get down to about $86M. So they'd have to trade Burks or someone else to clear more cap space. Plus Washington stated all along they would match any offer. I think DL was probably exploring a S&T.

Attention Haywood haters:

Cappy needs that interview with his agent making up dumb excuses.

Many, many pos rep for man who helps Cappy.

THANKS!!!!

(seriously, even dutch or Boris or hack....anyone helps here...many pos rep)

Nice pic of gobert

THIS GUY JUST SAID GOBERT IS CHICKEN ****!!!

NEG TRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anybody else get the impression that MattNie is actually a paid employee of the Gordon Coward camp. I think Hayward is paying a PR firm to troll message boards and try to change the minds of fans. Its almost pathetic. Fans can't be fans on a team message board. this PR firm want to convince fans not to be mad he left, just be happy he was there 7 years. It ridiculous, pathetic and obvious. There is not excuse for what he did, no justification that will ever sit well with true Jazz fans. If Coward cared at all he would have forced Boston to give us something.

CP3 professional (thousand time more than Coward)
Hayward=coward (forever)

Jazz organization and the millers have been nothing but 1st class

All the beat writers and many fans have not

As GH said in the call he gets being upset but making violent personal threats against not only him but his family is way out of line

I follow Hayward because I follow butler. Shoot me

I’ve watched literally every jazz game last 7 years and became a fan

I was expecting fans to be upset but classy. Wish him well as you do every player the jazz cut with no notice

But most of not all writers and most fans have literally turned on a 7 year relationship when the only person who really knows is Hayward

I’ve learned a long time ago to take people at their word until proven otherwise

Everyone is believing espn ******* over Hayward blows my mind. That jackass was even worried Hayward would change his mind because of his leak. That should tell you all you need to know. He guessed and got it right

Looks to me like someone told him he was leaning Celtics which Hayward acknowledges and reported as truth. That’s ********

I just thought Hayward has done enough to get the benefit of the doubt but I guess not

On a personal level I find it strange that apparently the only person Hayward has talked to was Quinn

I remember Locke greasing the skids 2 weeks ago that he may leave

His big item was all the losing and what they’ve done is too little too late

And the RFA time. Don’t forget that was a DL and Miller family decision to tell him he was not worth it

My guess is things may have been said that he won’t let go

You get what you give. If Hayward would have just come out and said "You know what, I think Boston is the best place to continue my career. And I think it's the best place for me and my family. So Jazz fans, I'm sorry, but I'm going to Boston." right when he had decided that's what he was going to do then all of Jazznation would have respected him. Instead he d***** the Jazz around. He gave the Jazz the indication that trading for Rubio and signing Ingles would increase their chances of keeping him. He went on this 3 day trip visiting all three teams that was for no other purpose but to stroke his ego and increase his brand BECAUSE HE ALREADY KNEW WHAT HE WAS GOING TO DO. And stop with the bs that he hadn't decided. Several nba insiders with trusted sources around the league say otherwise. Vehemently. And then when news breaks that he's going to Boston, he and his agent flat out LIE that it's not true. And they are STILL lying about it. We're supposed to show him class after all the lying and deceit? Really? **** that. He still hasn't called Gail Miller or Dennis Lindsey. Is that classy? Gtfoh.

1. His kid was in the ER and Boston FO screwed the pooch on it
2. He was in Boston earlier ready to go and they were not done with the paperwork. No big deal
3. Hayward talked to the Boston Media yesterday
4. He confirmed when the story supposedly leaked HE HAD NOT DECIDED.

Someone build goodwill in a city for 7 years, does everything the right way and everyone beleives an ESPN writer who says he posted the story just as he was boarding a plane to get it out there.
He had a 50/50 chance.

With friends like this fan base who needs enemies.

And you think the way Hayward is just being shredded by the Jazz is not going unnoticed.

Good luck getting another Top 20 player as a FA. Not happening.

Good luck getting a ring, not happening.

Good luck making the playoffs, 8th seed at best....

Enjoy mediocrity.....

There is a lot of truth to this. Utah is seen as a weird place, and the fans act like this...

It does not go unnoticed.

I know for a fact that BYU and the University of Utah have had problems with fans acting this way and turning recruits off from the programs.

Some of you guys are brats and completely immature. Grow up.

Chris Paul facilitated this trade by being honest with the Clippers. Wish Coward had been honest with the Jazz. But that is not my point. Coward could have insisted that in order to sign with Boston it must be a sign and trade. Boston and Utah could have then engaged in sign and trade discussions that actually gave the Jazz an asset. Coward tried to save face by saying (after the fact) that he was willing to do a sign a trade, but that was way to little to late. Coward should have said I will sign back with Utah unless Boston give the Jazz something in return. Jazz fans wouldn't feel so betrayed and Coward would have been welcomed back in Utah any time. Instead he thought only of himself and screwed the team that loved him for 7 years.

Lol. This is the funniest thing I've ever read. I love how this board twists facts to fit their narrative. What fantasy land do you guys live in?

I have a hard time believing Jazz fans are all that unique when it comes to this stuff.

Bettter history: Boston
Better FO: Boston
Better shot all All star: Boston
Better shot at all NBA: Boston
Better shot at big $ endorsements: Boston
Better talent: Boston
Better shot at getting more talent: Boston
Better coach: Wash

That's why he went to Boston it's pretty simple.

No, they aren't unique. But it's still Utah. That's a big hurdle to overcome. When you are a young athlete, Utah is not where you grew up dreaming of playing at.

There is so much going against players from coming here...different culture, weird drinking laws, religious people that are just...strange (Elder Hayward stuff)....

Then you toss ******* fans in top of that?

Game over man.

The Jazz can control certain things: coaches, facilities, etc. they want to be the best at what they can control.

Same goes for fans. We can only control how we act. Why not be the best? Why excuse ****ty behavior with, "well, everyone else does it"...

Be the best. Let Utah have the best facilities. The best developmental coaches and G League team. Let them have the best coaches.

And let's be the best fans. Let's make the decision so hard for these guys they can't say no. Let's have a player sit there and think, "Man, the State of Utah sucks. BUT, their facilities, their coaches, their fans are all amazing. Gobert is a star that doesn't shoot. No one else can offer me that."

Instead they think, "damn, Fisher hooked Utah up. He won them games and balled out for them and they treat him like this? And look how they treat Hayward. Utah is a weird, awful place. No thanks."

Do you honestly think he'd choose a worse Utah team over a better LA team?
You mean the Utah team that just beat lac? Yes Utah lost their second best player but lac lost their best player.

Unless you think Hayward is better than CP3, I think you mixed up that up.

There is reasons to choose LA and maybe he chose for those reasons but there are reasons to choose Utah and one of those is a better team than the clippers right now.

This would happen in every city.

In fact, name me the one city where a big FA signed with another team and the fans of the former team weren't pissed.

I'll wait. Probably forever, because you can't come up with one.
