I have a hard time believing Jazz fans are all that unique when it comes to this stuff.
No, they aren't unique. But it's still Utah. That's a big hurdle to overcome. When you are a young athlete, Utah is not where you grew up dreaming of playing at.
There is so much going against players from coming here...different culture, weird drinking laws, religious people that are just...strange (Elder Hayward stuff)....
Then you toss ******* fans in top of that?
Game over man.
The Jazz can control certain things: coaches, facilities, etc. they want to be the best at what they can control.
Same goes for fans. We can only control how we act. Why not be the best? Why excuse ****ty behavior with, "well, everyone else does it"...
Be the best. Let Utah have the best facilities. The best developmental coaches and G League team. Let them have the best coaches.
And let's be the best fans. Let's make the decision so hard for these guys they can't say no. Let's have a player sit there and think, "Man, the State of Utah sucks. BUT, their facilities, their coaches, their fans are all amazing. Gobert is a star that doesn't shoot. No one else can offer me that."
Instead they think, "damn, Fisher hooked Utah up. He won them games and balled out for them and they treat him like this? And look how they treat Hayward. Utah is a weird, awful place. No thanks."
