Hillary Clinton says Tulsi Gabbard is a 'Russian asset' groomed to ensure Trump reelection

I’ve asked for current politicians that have supported Putin invading Ukraine, and so far I’ve gotten a local Utah politician asking why we should care…which I don’t agree with, but isn’t supporting Putin either.

And fwiw Thriller, Trump isn’t the leader of the Republicans. He is just as much disliked within as he is liked. But if you want to frame the extremists viewpoints as being the primary viewpoints, you certainly have that right. I’d argue McConnell leads the Republican Party more than Trump ever did.
Trump is the leader of the republican party. He is also a politician who vocally supported putins invasion of ukraine

I think that is supporting putin. Saying who cares is exactly what putin wants from everyone. That is just like supporting him imo.
Yep. It is tacit approval as opposed to explicit approval. Not doing anything about it is giving approval.

At this point, you have to be unbelievably naive to not see how Republicans and Putin are tied at the hip. They think Putin is a genius. They admire his illiberalism. They wish they could bring that here. They look at Russia and wish they could establish an illiberal white Christian nationalist state.

Yep. Like I said, you have to be unbelievably naive not to see the rot. Republicans are tied at the hip to Putin. Hell, don’t we remember the Trump tower meeting where dismantling sanctions were discussed in exchange for dirt on Hillary Clinton?

Or this?

Or this?

Or this?

Or this? It led to his first impeachment

It’s just not possible to deny that Republicans haven’t supported Putin with a straight face.

They’re literally saying they’d support Russia over Democrats. Like… that’s horrible.

And that woman? She fits this narrative perfectly. Republicans see putin and Russia, not as something to shun but as something to emulate. They hate multicultural liberal democracy. They’d love nothing more than to make America at least appear to be, an homogenous white Christian nationalist country, like Russia!
Don’t you think in some ways republicans have become the new hippies? They are full of grievances and hate the established order. And they envision something like this as their salvation:
It’s why Tucker does his show part time in Hungary. Or why so many republicans admire Putin and Russia. These places are seen as refuges for traditionalist white Christians. Bulwarks against the multicultural, globalist, and liberal democracy west.

Is chanting "putin putin putin" supporting him or not?
And I see that you said "politicians". Well the chants were happening when a republican politician was speaking and that politician didn't exactly try to stop the chant or chastise the one doing the chant.
Like… they’re literally chanting “Putin!”

If we were at a jazz game and Lebron was killing us, would we show support for the Jazz by chanting Lebron’s name? Of course not.

By the way, have you ever been at a meeting where they started chanting putin’s name and asking what’s wrong with Hitler? All I know is that if I’m ever invited to a place that does that, I’m not speaking there. I’m getting the **** out.

@RandyForRubio just isn’t being serious here.

Whoa now. That’s a really hot take. You promised me to warn me first before you make hot takes. So you lied to me. What will you say next? Covid sucks? Gobert is tall? Utah’s mountains are beautiful? Tony’s pizza in Ogden is delicious?

Example #… I’ve lost count now of how Republicans and Putin are connected at the hip. Remember the NRA?

Remember Maria Butina?
As part of her plea deal, she has cooperated extensively with the government and provided information about her boyfriend, Paul Erickson. Prosecutors allege that Erickson, a GOP political operative from South Dakota, was involved in Butina's scheme to create a backchannel between the US and Russia and promote Russian interests.

Like you have to be living in a cave to not see the obvious support here of republicans for Putin and vice versa.

If you’re going to use quote marks, it’s generally accepted that the quotes have to be accurate. You failed to do that despite the posts being just above you. I asked a specific question, you’ve failed to answer it multiple times now. Quit moving the goal posts and twisting what I say.
FWIW we do have polling out of Gallup on support for Putin and the level of disdain for him is identical among Republicans and Democrats at 88%. Neither side supports him more and neither side hates him more.
"Republicans and Democrats are united in their negative views of Russia, with 88% of both groups holding an unfavorable view of the country,"

Is chanting "putin putin putin" supporting him or not?
And I see that you said "politicians". Well the chants were happening when a republican politician was speaking and that politician didn't exactly try to stop the chant or chastise the one doing the chant.
That’s fair. I would agree with you on this.

I do think it’s important to realize that despite Thriller calling it a GOP meeting, it really isn’t. It was an extremist branch off that the vast majority of the party does not support.

If all people are to be disqualified because of scummy people that sometimes support them, might I bring up that Richard Spencer supported Biden over Trump. That doesn’t make Biden a nazi or white supremacist though.

Thriller is acting like all republicans are supporting Putin attacking Ukraine, when that just isn’t reality.

I don’t think people that have the viewpoint of ‘America First’ (basically they don’t care about Ukraine or Russia) are supporting Putin, they just don’t want to use American money/assets over there. I do not agree with them, but it’s hard to fault not wanting to enter another overseas war as well.

I find that identity politics like Thriller follows is incredibly decisive. I disagree with a lot of liberal policies and politicians, I identify as a conservative, but that doesn’t mean I think everybody opposite of me is a rabid *******. Bad eggs can make the whole bunch smell bad, and that does go for both sides. I realize I’m a little bit of a minority in political beliefs on this board, but we all have a lot in common too. It’s important we don’t forget that. That’s why I like you Fish. We typically don’t agree on things, but I always know that you’re honest and open to things, and you think for yourself. I can respect that.

Let’s be clear here, not every conservative is pro Putin but the majority Republican figures most certainly are.

  • The NRA gladly took russian money. It was used as a back channel for the Kremlin.
  • The GOP changed its platform in 2016 to be more accommodating to Russia.
  • The leader of the Republican Party for 4 years was a Russian puppet. He asked for and received help from the Kremlin. He lied about receiving help. He said in Helsinki that he believed Putin over our own intelligence community. He wanted to pull us out of NATO and planned to do it in term 2. Just a few days ago he called Putin a “savvy genius” and praised his attack on Ukraine.
  • The Republican congress with the exception of Mitt Romney found no problem with Trump blackmailing Ukraine which would have ultimately benefited Russia. He got caught. But much damage was already done.
  • His 2020 campaign was littered with Russian disinformation. His personal lawyer sought to launder Russian disinformation (remember Hunter’s laptop and claims that Ukraine was actually behind the DNC server hacks)
  • The most watched Fox News host still provides pro Putin propaganda.
  • The most influential member of the House attended and spoke at a pro Putin rally last night.
  • Many religious and cultural leaders still idolize Putin because he’s seen as being pro white nationalist and anti LGBT. You see many on the right demanding an authoritarian leader, rather than valuing liberal democracy. You see that in how republicans don’t believe Biden won in 2020 and In their support or approval of Jan 6. https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/22274429/republicans-anti-democracy-13-charts
We ignore these toxic elements at our own peril. I am partisan, but not necessarily liberal/conservative policy wise. We can always debate and compromise on what the appropriate income tax should be. I’m partisan along the lines of illiberal vs liberal democracy because I’m a historian and see anti democratic forces seriously on the rise. I won’t ever compromise there. The anti democratic forces are the mainstream In today’s Republicans party and propaganda apparatus.

So yeah, while not every conservative is illiberal and supportive of Putin, most of the republicans who matter sure are. @RandyForRubio grow up.

JD Vance said this today at CPAC:

You notice, he doesn’t offer any suggestions or policy ideas for universal health care. He’s using his mom as a way to justify indifference to Ukraine which ultimately benefits Russia.

JD Vance isn’t a nobody. He’s running for Senate in Ohio and wrote this:

Amazon product ASIN 0062300547Nearly 28,000 reviews on Amazon.

He routinely does interviews on Fox News. Are we really going to say he’s an outlier on the american right?

I gotta say, clicking on all those twitter links that thriller provided did show a lot of examples.
The redneck idiots in the "i'd rather be russian than a democrat" shirts were my favorite. Exemplifies a trumper to at T.

If one wants to waste enough
time, one can find plenty of examples of anything. Twitter is not a good sample of real life. I’m not denying the existence of idiots, I’m denying they’re the majority.

I mean, I could post examples of Louis Farrakhan and his followers on twitters, the DNC hosted Linda Sarsour who is pretty anti-Semitic. Look at how many major democratic candidates have come for Farrakhan’s approval, advice, etc.

By Thriller’s logic, that is and should be disqualifying. Or maybe, just maybe, both sides have their fair share of idiots.

We’re not talking about those outliers. We’re talking about the leaders of your party, most influential members of congress, and most popular tv propagandists.

I guess you can’t/won’t understand this concept as you don’t seem to believe that trump is the leader of your party. An opinion completely detached from reality. And you’ve yet to address MTG, JD Vance, and Tucker Carlson.
I don’t view Trump as the leader of the Republican Party. I don’t think he’ll get the nomination if he runs. Like I earlier said, I think McConnell would more accurately be called the leader of the party, not somebody who is currently not in office.

MTG isn’t well liked among her colleagues, and is an outlier among them. JD Vance is running for office, and most likely won’t get elected. If I want, I can find crazies among the candidates for office for the democrats too. They do exist. And Carlson. I don’t like him. Obviously some people do. But he doesn’t represent the party any more than Don Lemon, Jeff Zucker, and Chris Cuomo represent the Democrats. And you will find that Carlson actually had to change his viewpoint because his audience didn’t agree with it…which is an indictment on him on many levels, but read the tea leaves dude. He had to change because his audience disagreed. Who is his audience? The Russian lovers! But wait…that doesn’t make sense.

I agree that one, there are people on the right, many of them directly connected to the Republican Party who support Putin, and two, that Putin support is not generally part of the Republican Party's platform.

I think these criticisms should be directed at individuals and not the Republican Party in general.

This is laughable. You don’t believe trump is the leader of the party? You’re wrong then. You’re completely detached from reality. You’re demanding others do that which you can’t do; argue in good faith. You’re gaslighting, you’re calling the sky green or that water isn’t wet. Cmon man, bebest

And as @fishonjazz said, those guys describe Trumpers to a T. You said before that you respected his opinion. Is he wrong?

But even if you believe those guys are outliers. You’re ignoring the leader of your party, the most influential members of congress, the most watched tv actors, and you’re denying the last 5 years of blatant Russian sycophancy from the right.

Again dude, grow up. Stop playing games. Stop gaslighting. Argue in good faith

Carlson is the most watched personality on cable. Doesn’t matter if you don’t like him.
MTG is the top fundraiser in the House. Doesn’t matter if you don’t like her.
And lol at trump not getting the nomination if he runs. You’re definitely in the minority there.

This is your party. Maybe you need another party? One not so right wing authoritarian and pro putin?

You think MGT is among the most influential members of congress and I’m detached from reality?

Fair enough. Enjoy your day Thriller.

She’s the top fundraiser in the House and notice, she’s not being censured by Kevin McCarthy, unlike Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger. In fact, she has really to face any consequences for her crap. Why is that? Could it because she’s so influential?

If trump and green aren’t as powerful as I think they are, why has Cheney and Kinzinger been ostracized from the party instead of green and Trump?

Cmon man, be real for a change. Not sure if I’ve seen a more fake poster on this board in a long time. Cmon, be better than this.
