What's new

How did Exum look last night?

You just quoted a 6 game, low minute sample size PER...

Nobody is saying to use 1 stat. My go to stats are PER, ts%, VORP, DRTG a d ORTG differential, a:t, FTA, and maybe a few others I'm missing.

Those give you a picture of a player and that picture says Exum sucks.

Come on man be honest about it. I said it was a small sample size right in the damn comment on this page. And I am mostly using it tongue in cheek because it's funny that Exum has a higher one this year even though I don't like it. I thought that was also pretty clear. I didn't say you were only using one. I just said that I don't like using one. I'm glad you like more stats. We'll just have to agree to disagree about PER in the context of this discussion. Exum sure didn't seem to suck the last 3 games in a limited role. So we'll just have to wait and see how he develops. It doesn't matter what he did in the past.

Rubio sucks. Jazz are handcuffed with his salary on the books for another season. I'll celebrate if he doesn't return after next season.

I like his decisive passes, seems like he saw play developing before it happen, that is good skill.... I am not sure I will ever get used to his ballet layups. Just looks awkward and feminine to me, just so weird. Oh well, does not need to be pretty as long as it goes in.

Its funny how you describe Exum that way when Rudy moves in exactly the same way.

I think it's way more bizarre how some of you have this festering hate for the guy, and clearly want him to fail. It makes zero sense to me.

I never once said or even implied that I want Exum to fail.

There's no reasoning with some of you people.

This guy is going to be a welcome addition.

Did the haters decide that the Exum homers were getting too vocal again and added a new bot....

time for Quin to get over his Dante distrust. Clearly we need to develop more talent to help Donovan. Exum was getting to the rim with ease

50 and 40 is getting every ball handler to the rim with ease because Rudy has become an elite rim runner. Favors has developed insanely good footwork as a backdoor rim cutter and is a solid rim diver, and he and Gobert have figured out how to make the high screen-low man play work. It's not traditional high-low, props to QS. That pass from Rudy to Derrick two games back was sick.

Throw in 2 way players like Jerebko and Crowder in the 2nd (or 1st) unit and opposing teams have to spread the floor defensively. Uronically, Utah actually seems to have trouble with teams that clog the paint at the expense if giving up quick 3's. I think that's a rythm and practice focus problem, not a player problem. They are adapting to us; that's the way you want the ball to bounce.

X looked good last night but his D was not why.

I think he missed an open Larkin early on.
Then got caught up on a screen for a Rozier three.
Then Rozier just nailed a great shot - with Exum all over him.

Exum had a nice block.
And no one could penetrate on him..

So yea, not great - but not horrendous right

With his size, he needs to see screens faster to navigate them. One of the downsides to being lanky, and probably his biggest weakness on D... His D was fine last night, and that block was great. You can still see rust/lack of jelling with teammates on offense which is understandable.

I think that short stretch in second half at least on offence was one of the best I have seen from him so far. Block on defence was great as well, but then he messed up couple defensive rotations and Quin pulled the plug. It was probably the first time when watching Exum I wanted to see more.

I wonder what Synder's logic of playing Exum only 9 minutes last night when the dude was 3/4 from the field and had 8 points.

Well you can be guaranteed the local writers wont ask him.

Nope they'll talk about the a missed defensive assignment by Exum(nobody else) and not say anything about the bricks shot by Mitchell and Rubio that gave the other team a chance to steal a win from the Jazz again.

No chance local writers/reporters ask... It's ridiculous at this point. I still don't understand why Mack and Neto got burn over Exum last year... That hindered his development so much.

Either Snyder is hesitant to ramp up his PT post injury recovery, or Exum physically assaulted one of Snyder's family members. He deserves more PT with the way he has been playing.

I thought Quin just went back to his strict rotations.

Honestly, Dante played really bad and brought no energy in his 1st 4 minutes but after he missed that open layup he seemed to kick into gear. If Quin had sat him the rest of the game I would have understood that decision but to be benched later after having a significant impact on the game I dont understand. Never will.

And no this isnt an Exum thing. This is a wanting to see the Jazz win thing. Id be just as pissed if it was AB or ONeal or Neto or ANYONE.
