What's new

How much has Al helped Favors and Kanter improve over the course of their early careers?

Can everyone please calm down about Favors? Last game he looked great and managed to play 38 minutes with a great impact on the game.

He, like everyone on the team, needs to work on his consistency.

Are people freaking out over Favors again? Right after he has 17 points, 15 rebounds, 3 blocks, 3 assists against Josh Smith and Al Horford?

Well Kanter himself cant stop talking about Jefferson. The post game interview was thanking Jefferson for how well he played in both of his starts. He said Jefferson has been helpful in his confidence and that Jeffferson is like a brother to him.

Thats the typical turkish mentality, they are all living this little brother/older brother stuff. Kanter likes AL and he is like a big brother for him. Kanter has put a impressiv game on the line and he also knows that they played better than usual. A more professionell player would say, that he has show, that he needs more minutes. Kanter showed that he is a real turk and started talking about Jefferson first and not about his performance, to show his respect.
BUT, If you know about turkish sports, than you would know that this behaviour is poison for developing the younger ones, for most of the time.

Yes Enes always had good feet and post moves but I believe he was thought a great deal by Al. That post spin against Biyombo tells it. At least Al got him to a confident state. But I'm not so sure he needs Big Al further. The poster who mentioned Hakeem has a good point. Enes is the player that can benefit greater than anyone from taking lessons from the Dream because of his offense mentality.

Someone on the coaching staff needs to tell Favors to face up as soon as he gets the ball in the post and either make a move quick or swing the ball to the weak side. When he does that he seems to convert at a lot higher rate and get fouled at an extremely high rate. When he posts up he looks like a complete mess. I don't have any numbers to back this up...just going off the eye test.

Oh and don't ball watch when a shot goes up. Head to the rim and go grab a rebound like a man. Don't get me wrong, I love Favors he just frustrates the hell out of me sometimes.

The thing that pisses me off about Favors, is he hasn't went out and won the starting spot. Yes, I think he should be starting right now personally, but there is a argument to be made that his offensive productivity won't make up to what Millsap can do. I honestly think if he went balls to the wall not just on defense (which I think he does) but also on offense. If he went for every offensive rebound and tried finishing after he got it I think he would be scoring 20 a game along with playing his dominating defense. He is just as bad as anyone with standing and watching during offense. As bad as Al is about holding the Ball, Favors still needs to make cuts. I rarely see him cut to the rim.

I just wish he would step up and take the job by dominating on both sides of the court so there would be no question. And I know he can.

why would anyone do that on this jazz team
minutes are set in stone

Except that over the last month Foye's minutes have dropped and Alec's have gone up considerably.

One of Kanter's turnovers against Charlotte was classic Al: Enes tried to back down his defender, held the ball too long and turned right into a double team. I actually laughed when that happened.

Foye's season average is 27.5. In February, he averaged 28.3. Burks' minutes increased secondary to injury.
