What's new

I believe in DL, the GM god -- but, this draft shows the Jazz may lose Hayward...

I really like that in his interview last night DL specifically mentioned the cap space that the Jazz have available until Jul 1. That tells me it's still quite possible they will do a fairly major trade.

Then what does Dennis Lindsay do to show Hayward we are all in?
He can still trade the draft picks and good players right?

What is stopping him from trading some combination of Donovan mitchell, bradley, hood, favors, exum, burks, diaw, etc after the draft? Trades are still allowed to happen right?

True if he committed, then this draft is just REALLY GOOD for us. But, if he is still unsure... this draft didn't move the needle in our direction. Which would SUCK BALLS. Plus, like I mentioned we lost great assets to use in a trade tonight.
We gained a great asset to use in a trade imo. (Mitchell)

Riley says the "major guys" in free agency, "are most likely going back."

So there is that...
That's how it is every year tbh.
We hear about 10 or so all star max level dudes that might change teams and then when it comes down to it only 1 or 2 actually do change teams.

It's easier to stay than move. I think Hayward stays with the jazz.

Awww suck... so if all FA guys go back... we have to trade... but we just used up a lot of solid assets... ugh. Bummer.
If all free agents go back then that includes hayward silly.

You a glass half empty kinda guy?

I think I read that Tony Jones thinks they'll keep Alec to improve his value.

Makes sense. He probably is only worth a 2nd round pick right now, at best. But if he can show some stuff at the start of the season then they can trade him at the trade deadline for positive assets and still save the cap space.

Yep. I also liked how at ease and confident he came across about the upcoming free agency. Even cracking jokes. There are all these people in the media and among the fans that are claiming Hayward is out the door...it doesn't seem like DL got that memo

I understand why people are down on Burks, since he hasn't really played much in three years. He has top level skills in certain areas that no other Jazz players do, shot creation and finishing around the hoop. You don't just throw that away while the value is at its doormat. During preseason haters be like "sure glad we didn't trade Burks" when he's proving to be the best offensive player the jazz have.

He can be micheal jordon. But if he can't stay on the floor he's useless

If anything, I feel better about our chances of re-signing Hayward. I think Mitchell's attitude/work ethic is perfect for this team/locker room (not that a rookie will have much, if any, impact on Hayward's decision).

Plus, BOS seems very happy with Tatum & I believe they would have gone in a different direction if they were confident that Hayward was signing there. Also, Butler is no longer an option for them & I doubt 1 yr of PG13 will have any influence over Hayward.

I think it's a good sign that we didn't draft a potential replacement as well (although Mitchell could potentially push Hood down to the 3).

How much do they have? About $13M, right? With the ability to give a team Diaw's contract. So they could essentially take around $20M from a team wanting to clear cap space.
