What's new

I have seen the future...

I think Dante is somewhat on the cusp of a breakout game. By January something is going to happen. I smellz the triple-double simmering. On a per-36 basis at least, or maybe if Ricky misses a game with a man-bun incident. Hell, last night he had 6-4-3 in 16 minutes.

Anyone with me?

I mean, for the first time, I can see Exum slipping into Ricky's second guard role. If he could pull that off, it would be amazing and really help us on the salary front. I love Ricky, but to have the option to spend that money somewhere else would be ideal, even if we decide to spend it on Ricky after looking at other options.

I'm very optimistic about Dante. As others have pointed out, he seems to be able to get to the rim at will. He's too big for the likes of Barea or Yogi Ferrell, and he's too quick for bigger players if you switch. Once he learns how to finish better or starts dunking like last night when Powell hit him and should've been tossed.

One thing I'll point out that no one else seems to have done is that I've noticed that Dante is only r months older than our rookie Grayson. Dante just turned 23! By the time he's in his prime, he may be quite the player.

I agree that Exum is starting to look like the player his supporters have touted he would be come. Great days seem to be ahead.

what I have noticed about exum, he's got a nice drive to the rim and gets to the rim at will. He just needs to finish when he gets there.
His defense is really good, his length and quickness gives him the ability to switch on almost everybody. The next thing exum needs to work on is his shot, if he can give the jazz a good 2-4 three pointers he will be deadly. Right now defenders slack off him a bit, but if he continues to give the jazz some outside shooting it will be great. Imagine if exum had knock-down 3 pointer where he could pull up from outside, that would be insane.

Echoing much of what has already been said..... his speed and length are elite, his passing is good, his ability to get to the rim is elite, his aggressiveness and fearlessness has been a revelation.

But i always knew/assumed most of that (other than his newfound aggressiveness and fearlessness). I have always said that his ceiling will be determined by his shooting.

So far this year in a small sample size he is shooting 41% from the field and 31% from three. Those numbers are very similar to his career numbers (40% and 31%). Those numbers need to improve quite a bit.
At least he is getting to the line a bit more though.

Yam and Fish, it's going to be the final piece of the puzzle. If Deandre Jordan can shoot 87% FT, Dante can improve his shooting.

That dunk was dope. I thought Flea's stiff arm was a flagrant. He took that and the other flagrant and still threw down hard.

Yamers, let me get this right. You're saying if someone is a knock down 3 pt shooter, in addition to being lightning fast with insane length and a great one on one defender ... that's an insane package ?? Am i understanding correctly ?

im talking like a kyle lowry type of player with exums length. that's elite.

I think those numbers will improve, he was 48% from the field last year and has a couple of early bad shooting games bringing him down so far this year. As the season goes on, that will even out.

ya but he's bitterly anti anyone loving Exum
Not really. I just do not get when people claiming he is one of the fastest players in the NBA when numbers and eye test says he is not the league of Westbrook, Schroeder or Wall for example - those guys are tier one when it comes to speed - Exum is a tier below.

He's already in that tier, he just doesn't have the lateral movement of a Westbrook. And just wait until he learns how to breathe.

It's not Dante's first step, it's his second and third. He's turning into a thoroughbred. I have a feeling he'd beat everyone in the league in a 100-yard-dash.

"Lane Agility – 10.42 seconds – Zach LaVine

According to DraftExpress.com, only four players in Combine history have bested UCLA guard Zach LaVine’s time of 10.42 seconds. Australian guard Dante Exum’s time of 10.75 seconds was second-best this year."

Maybe. Lets hope so.
