If Hayward Leaves?

Then what? I would hate to go into another rebuild, but the last time the Jazz thought they didn't have to do that, we got 2.5 seasons of treadmill hell (which no doubt contributed to this team's ceiling being capped and taking this long to get Hayward to a real playoff series).

I'm starting to worry.

Such a tough thing. I'd lean towards just trading everyone not named Gobert, then having Gobert pull a David Robinson ala Spurs when they drafted Duncan. Hope you land the #1 pick and draft Doncic. Would be such a bummer to put the team on hold like that, and likely something Utah would never do. Just depressing to think of being a team w/ Rodney Hood as the primary scorer and still being good enough to make the playoffs because our defense will likely still be amazing.

Then in 3 years you have to worry about being good enough to keep Gobert in his next FA. Just would suck ***.

Damn. Hadn't been paying attention to Doncic. PER of 22 in 20 mpg in the ACB league at 17? WTF? Id consider tanking for that dude if Hayward were to leave.

Yeah, he really seems like a prodigy. Arguably a better prospect than Fultz.

Thought about all of this. ****ing ****ty situation. If Hayward stays, I think the Jazz could be in a position to make some noise on the court AND the market, but if he doesn't? Jazz's only option at getting a player of his caliber is through acquiring picks/young talent and doing so the old-fashioned way.

I sort of wonder to what degree Hayward cares in re how much his decision will affect the Jazz fanbase. We have Gobert but beyond Rudy, and without Gordon, we have no top end talent. Playoffs is all about Elite Talent. If you don't have it, you can't win. Rudy and Gordon were the only guys that belonged on the court with the Dubs.

With that kind of production at that age, being a 6'8" wing, I'd consider him over Fultz.

I think the age difference between the two is only about 8 months, so not a huge age difference, but yeah, I'd probably give the edge to Doncic.

If Rudy is healthy we are a treadmill team. I think you might have to go full rebuild/tank mode. Re-tooling would be a treadmill move. It's too depressing to really think about how to reconfigure.

If Hayward leaves the Jazz should go out and get Millsap.

Pray that Exum Hood and Lyles take major steps.

Jazz will be fine.

Thinking that Snyder and Lindsey have no plan B is stupid.

Would it be against the rules for the jazz to add any players if they lose hayward? They can only go forward with the players currently on their roster so therefore hood would have to be the primary scorer?

What free agent are they adding? It's even more depressing to think of the FA's we would have to overpay to become late seed fodder to the top Western teams.

2 years later and you fans are starting to see my writing on the wall. I get tired of being right all the time...

If Hayward leaves and Hill leaves ....this lineup is entirely possible with a summer to work on their bodies and game.

Starters:

PG) Exum
SG) Burks
SF) Hood
PF) Favors
C) Gobert

Backup:

SG/SF) Ingles
SF/PF) Johnson
PF) Lyles

Draftpicks:

#24)

C) Johnathon Jeanne

#30)

SG) Hamidou Diallo

FA Signing:

Milos Teodosic

Health and Growth within ,still a lot of potential and talent on board.

If Hayward leaves you blow this team up. Burn it to the ground and start fresh.

I'm not on board with treading water. Either build toward a future capable of winning it all or bust.

Trade everyone but Exum/Gobert/Lyles. Giving Exum and Lyles 35 mpg might be enough to tank to a chance at a #1 pick.

No way you sign Ingles though if Hayward leaves. I'm sure JJ would want out also, and it would be silly to not trade him.

If he is on his way out, Hayward can do the Jazz organization and it's fans a "solid" if he tells Boston he will go there only if it's a sign and trade deal. This allows Hayward to make the most he possibly can and Boston get's their man. I'm not a salary cap guy...but I'd assume a sign and trade deal would help Boston's cap situation since they would also be unloading salary and not just taking on more.
We get their #1 pick plus whatever garbage they tack on to make salaries match.
