What's new

Im way excited for tonight's Jazz game

Lyles has passed up a good handful of open looks this game.
Cause he can't shoot. Shooting is easily his #1 problem. And I noticed that the defenders seem to already know this since they sag off on him and play the passing lanes instead of guarding him

Withey is going to be a consistent player for us. NBA-ready.
Agreed. I like withey and I also think pleiss will be ok

Well some great news for the jazz is that Burks and hood look fantastic. Burks is scoring well, passing well, rebounding well, and even defending well (wasn't sure that part of his game would ever come around)

Hood looks poised and confident.
Hayward is a stud. Ingles is a really nice 4th wing and millsap is a good 5 wing.

Our wings are our strength this year. We are loaded. And that is amazing to say when you consider that we have favors and gobert as our bigs. Withey and booker are capable backups to those two and pleiss and lyles are not bad third stringers.

Trey looked good tonight and neto gives me hope.

Just stay healthy!!!

P.S. I'm glad we let the cake bake at the wing position

I feel good going into the season. Our wings are going to be fun to watch. Burke and Neto will do fine at the PG position.
Their success is on them, and very attainable. If they play within the offense they are talented enough to really be effective. Worse case is Trey starts
diverting from the system, struggles, and is gone. We'll get a vet and move on. This season will not be won or lost because
of the point guards. This is all on Hayward, Favors, Gobert and the wings.

who would've thought ingles will be our knock down 3 pointer? love it

Really, anyone who watched him play at the end of last year. I was actually surprised the Jazz got him on the cheap like the did in the off-season. I thought he had lit up enough teams around the league to have had the market drive up his worth a little. I'm pleased that he's back for the next couple of years, he's really solid off the bench. Plus, he's a good bloke and I imagine glue type in the locker room. Not to mention mentor for the younger guys.

I was an early proponent of the cake system as I knew Hood had great potential. There was simply no reason to pay $16M to another wing to come in and take minutes from Burks and Hood, I'm not entirely sold on Millsap, but it doesn't hurt to have a guy who can just come in and pester shooters; try to knock them off their games for 5-10 mins and hope they lose their rhythm,

Jazz have a solid rotation at the bigs and a potentially great rotation at the wings. It will be interesting to see what lineup moves Snyder makes and what roster moves Lindsey may/may not make.

Yep.
In in off-season most free agent acquisition talk was centered around wings (green, wade, carroll and a few others I can't remember)

I was against any and all of those. That's where the cake baking originated I think

I cant believe Portland played their only star player 42 minutes in a preseason game. Seems like a coach who got too caught up in winning a game that doesn't matter.

Yep. Kinda dumb

Even before the NBA off-season as Matthews was mentioned before he got hurt - and trying to get Middleton. Many suffer from the "grass is always greener" syndrome, I'll bet a lot of members of other boards are going to be talking about trading for Burks or Hood as this season progresses. If Lyles develops, Utah has their big and wing rotations solved going forward (AND Withey/Pliess and Ingles/Millsap) as the deep subs, Just need to pray for a PG. I am impressed by Neto, though. He could be a very good backup. Can Lindsey flip Burke and picks into a quality veteran at some point this year?
