Yeah, the issue isn't about Dwight Howard. Millsap is headed for free agency. Other teams think he'll get 4 years / $40M+.

Regardless of the Howard trade, what's your vote?
If we have to choose between keeping Millsap and Jefferson, I'd keep Jefferson, as I think Millsap is the easier player to replace. Favors is the starting PF and Marvin Williams (who is actually bigger than Millsap) can replace a lot of what Millsap does from the SF spot. I like Millsap and would prefer to keep him as a 6th-man if he's open to that--he'd do well playing harder for fewer minutes and going against 2nd-string players. But he's probably going to get paid to be someone's starter.
Edit: I wouldn't make a final decision on this until I'm confident that Kanter is going to give me a double-double and score efficiently. We have 4 bigs in our front court and should really only pay to keep 3 of them. There is still a possibility that Kanter is the odd man out, and Favors can play some minutes at C alongside Millsap.
Because I think Jefferson/Favors is the best starting option and I'd like to see Millsap as a 6th-man of the year candidate. I don't think Kanter is going to be ready for 25-30 mins/per for a couple more years (if ever). Hope I'm wrong, but I think Enes develops into a good sub, but just a so-so starter.Wow.. so you've voted to keep them BOTH? That's a surprise. Would be interested to know your view on why...
In the end though, I think Millsap will leave for greener pastures and Jefferson will stay.

Other reason I'd want both to stay is that the 4/5 rotation is currently a strength for Utah. Lose one or both and suddenly KOC has to use an asset to get another big. Keep both and KOC can concentrate on combining assets to get a future stud PG.

I say get rid of both wait for philly to get Bynum to extend then trade sap and Jefferson for Bynum. I know it won't happen but im dreaming here

As far as playing the guy he is against, 1v1, Jefferson is easily better than Sap on D. People hate Jeff because he isnt good at cleaning up other (perimeter) player's mistakes. Yes, Sap can do that better but he doesnt stop his own guy.
oh come on, that's ridiculous. sap is twice the defender al is, it's just that he's guarding nowitzki, duncan, aldridge and love while jefferson is guarding haywood, blair, przybilla and pekovica. the league -- and ESPECIALLY the western conference -- is deep with stud power forwards right now, while most teams have a stiff at center.
As good as Millsap is, he's just outmatched at the PF in the WC... all the more reasons to play Favors at PF and keep Al at C rather than spending big bucks on Millsap.
so that favors can be outmatched by power forward in the WC, right?
look, it's just a reality, that is a STACKED position in this conference, no matter who is playing there. and paul isn't "outmatched" -- he frequently limits his opponent to something south of usual production, but it still looks bad if you're just judging based on net production by position because subpar for dirk is still a hell of a lot better than above average for brendan haywood.
paul is a very good one-on-one post defender, and is MILES ahead of al in terms of team defensive adherence.
I don't know about you but I'd rather put Favors against Nowitzki, Duncan, Aldridge and Love. To me Favors has a much better chance guarding against these guys than Millsap (remember what Favors did in the playoffs against the Spurs?). So yes I'd choose Favors over Millsap in that situation 10 times out of 10.

So, you are saying Sap is a better defender that just doesnt show because he has tough people to guard?
So, in theory, if he were to guard lesser players, he would be better.
But, since he is undersized at PF, or too slow at SF, then he does, in fact get beat by the people he has to guard.
If he were that good, then guarding "stud" PF wouldnt be such a task, since he would be showing that he is also a "stud" PF, which he clearly is not.
Help D is where he IS, however, excellent. It also makes people over inflate his overall defensive skills, which, when on the ball vs his guy, is less than stellar.
