I'll admit I don't know much about Temple other than he's a 6'6" SG who is defensive-minded and can apparently play a little PG. His shooting numbers (from the field and from deep) are underwhelming, all the way back through college. Despite that, I see some sense in trying to keep some of the momentum going from the end of last season by inserting someone in the lineup who's big, defensive-minded and won't be dominating the ball in any regard. As I've thought about it, I've wondered if Ingles could fill this role. The only question is how he'd hold up having to guard some of the smaller, quicker players. I'm not certain how he compares to Temple there. In any case, I think he's got a three point shot that is at least reliable enough to add something to the offense and, being 6'8", would make this a difficult cover as the opposing teams' PGs would have to guard Hayward, Hood or Ingles and he'd have a bit more height to shoot over 6'2" guys. I'm not certain how much that would add to the offense to balance out any defensive quickness lost, but having a back court that's 6'8" creates other mismatches on defense that, at least to a certain degree, negates some of the loss of quickness and speed.
Would this be worthy of consideration? I think keeping the ball in the hands of other players would continue to let the offense flow as opposed to inserting a more ball-dominant PG (not mentioning any names).
