Interesting thought: Jazz win first game on the road against Lakers WITHOUT Deron Williams

Isn't that something?

Should we read anything into that?

Good games by the rooks and some disinterest on the Lakers at times. It is a very good win for the young guys. They just took down the defending champs. It should be a real confidence booster.

I'm still in shock, but it's not like this game didn't mean anything to the Lakers. They are chasing the spurs and can still fall behind the mavs. I assume we caught them sleeping, but I'd love to hear some analysis that says we'll be doing this more often.

Other thoughts, no AK, Harris or Fes. (I think it's safe to say no Raja is addition by subtraction)

Watch us take down the spurs next lol.

They took us lightly and we made them pay. They are over at their boards of course whining about the call for Hayward with 6 seconds left, but when someone breathes on Kobe it is a foul.

Hayward's offense made up for Deron, and our bigs were more effective against LA than the previous set of bigs that we used. Simple as that. Well, that and CJ only taking eight shots.

hmmm.. could it be that Lakers were forced to defend a different type of offense they were used to (i.e., penetrate & dish VS flex)?

Jackson's been up against Sloan for so long, could it be that he's still trying to figure out what Corbin's doing with his offensive strategy?

Finally have the length to bother LA with Favors and Jefferson. Sure they're not as tall as Gasol and Bynum, but they both get their share of blocks.

And I never thought I'd say this, but Hayward did to Kobe what AK used to do to him 5 years ago. Kobe is so used to being a lot taller than the opposing defender. I think Gordon's length really frustrated Bryant.

Fair assessment. Jackson's defenses are designed to force teams into doing things they don't want to do. In an iso heavy offense, force them to move the ball. In the Jazz flex's case, he would work to blow up the start of the play so that the crux of the offense, option reads, couldn't even start, forcing the Jazz into iso's. They forced Hayward into stuff they figured he's bad at, and he burned 'em.

No. 2 games ago the Jazz were blow out on their home floor by this same Laker team, a game in which Hayward shot 3-9. Hayward played out of his mind tonight, Watson hit 2 big threes and Favors was able to do what Al couldn't - catch and finish. Jazz played good defense - but the Lakers also played like crap. LA missed alot of open shots - if they shot like that in the playoffs last year the Jazz would've won games 1 & 3.

What we should read into this is that it's a great win for a young team that hopefully gives them confidence they can compete with the better teams.

Because the penetrate and dish offense is so rare in the NBA, and the flex is so common?

We had a great night using players that, because they have so few minutes, do not have teh extensive soucting reports you see for other players. If they start next season doing that well, that will be something. I'm just glad for a good night, right now.

Beautiful. Just beautiful. Kobe loses the ball, and then looks at his hands as if to say, "Which one of you naughty boys is gonna team up with Mr. Jergens to punish me for that turnover tonight?"

Dead on. Still fun as hell to see the W. And I didn't watch it. I watched the last 8 games in a row. Then I take a night off because I'm emotionally tired of the Jazz and they win. Luckily I recorded the replay.

No.

Lakers shot 37% and had 21 turnovers and still only lost by 1.

Fantastic win for a young team. Nothing more, nothing less. Feel good about yourself and let's see how they come out against SA.
