Is Derrick Favors Dead?

I'd be really surprised if it were a trade, but mark me down in the category of people who don't think this can all be explained by a bad lower back.
Agreed

we really don't know what is going on with him: any timetable, inj raports, which part of the back etc. We are out of the Play Offs so i think our coaching stuff is working hard to ge him back. but It looks bad.

Somewhat inside source tells me it really is just lower back pain/spasms, and that Favors was having some issues earlier in the season, tried to play through them, and exacerbated it. Remember that game he missed a few months back for "personal reasons"? That was the beginning of it. Thinks we might see him back just before or after the all-star break. Amazingly, he will have missed more games than Gobert by the time he returns...

Don't care if you don't believe me. That's what my source said. No it wasn't in a Best Buy parking lot.

What possible reason would the Jazz lie to the public and say he was out for personal reasons when he in fact was injured?

That part is perplexing to me.

Beats me. He certainly surprised my source by playing today.

Your source seems to know about as much about this situation as the Jazz FO, which is basically nothing. So it's pretty clear you have a source in the front office. What else does your source not know anything about?

I'm guessing the source is Randy Rigby because that guy doesn't know anything about anything.

How long will he last? I feel like we are just guessing at his health now. Is he 100%? Did he feel good enough, and decide to give it a go.
Where do we really stand with Favors today?

I heard on the radio after the game that he is 100% and will start next game and should be back to 30+ minutes the game after next

He looked rusty in the first half, but in the second half he started to come on. If he had been at full strength, I think the Jazz would've won last night. Gobert also looks like he has acclimated to playing again. Burke was really having trouble with the quickness of the Piston guards, which really was what lost the game for us -- not only on defense, but he was scoreless.

He knows when they've run out of tortilla chips in teh Lexus room, and he gets to the bottom of that **** immediately.

Sounds like the ideal responsibility for him... as long as he doesn't have to actually open the replacement bag of chips because he's not exactly mechanically minded, and I think he's probably more of a delegater than a doer.

Anybody notice how much easier everybody else's life was on D tonight? Points in the paint were much hard to come by. This allowed our guards a lot more freedom around the perimeter. I could be wrong but it seems like it's been a while since we've played so fundamentally sound on D.

I've been saying for some time that Favors is the key to this defense. It allows Gobert to free roam and do what he does. I believe Favors makes Gobert better and Gobert makes Favs better. The awareness on the defensive side that Favors plays with is 2nd to none. And it definitely shows when he is injured...
