Can Boogie play (defend) the 4?
No. That would be about the worst fit ever for this team. I'd literally rather play a SF at PF for the rest of the year than that.
Can Boogie play (defend) the 4?
Always remember.Do keep in mind, it's not up to the Jazz whether Favors stays.
I just don't think we're likely to get more value for Favors than his very own expiring contract + the talent he adds to our roster for this year. I'm not interested in a couple of weak 2nd-round picks -- I'd rather he help push us back into the playoffs as a 4th-6th seed + help us pull a first-round upset.
But if a first-round pick came calling without any salary burden beyond this season.... I'd pull the trigger.
I'm also not too interested in some kind of charity thing for Favors. If we are trying to win this year (we are), and he gives us the best chance of winning (which, relative to these proposals you've just authored, he probably does), then I'd rather keep him than get peanuts. Even if it means he walks and takes his salary with him.I kind of thought this at first... that it might be disrespectful to move him for two seconds, but he'd probably appreciate the opportunity to audition for both the team we trade him to and the rest of the league. I think we could likely do something with Phoenix or Atlanta and get their second rounder and maybe a 2019 second rounder. Monroe for Favs doesn't work straight up we'd need to send more salary. Favs for Dedmon/Marco or Ersan might be interesting to Atlanta. I think we could also do a three-team deal where we send Favs to Milwaukee and route Teletovic and Wilson to a team with expirings and a late first early second.

But, again, if we get into first-round pick territory, then I'm keen.
I agree !00%. We're not only neutering our offense but we're handcuffing Fav's. He's clearly better at the 5 and will drive up his value the more time he plays there. If he is auditioning for his next contract I can't see why this would be a problem.I just wonder if playing the way we should (jerebko or Thabo starting and a spread floor) and getting a guy like Monroe, who isn't as good but would not have a problem buying into a bench role, might actually make us better.
If we don't find something soon I'd just tell Favs to come off the bench and we can try and find Rudy/Favs minutes later in the game when Rubio isn't on the floor. It is just weird for us to neuter our offense for 6-8 minutes a game.

I mostly agree, actually. But I haven't completely lost hope in Rubio (and whatever combos he's featured in) -- unlike a lot of people around here.
The market for him was basically zero going into last season and up through the All-Star break. I was calling for the jazz to pick him up at that time.Looking at the market for point guards and remembering where Minny was with needing to dump salary... I'm wondering if we could have given a second instead of OKC pick.
Would have been nice to wait until hayward left and then addressed (or not addressed) the issue. I guess they kind of had us over a barrell... I just keep thinking that if we didn't trade for him who was going to take that salary... it was clear they were done with him... end of ramblings.
The only guys we have commitments with in 2019/2020 are Gobert, Ingles, Mitchell, Bradley, O'Neale (unguarateed), and our draft picks. I expect DL to maintain maximum roster flexibility for that off-season. Expiring contracts (notably: Favors, this year; Rubio, next year) have value to us.
my thoughts preciselyI would look to take on salary for next year (and get assets in return) and then strike in 2019 FA for that reason. Hood's deal (if he's here) needs to be tradeable.
Denver, Milwaukee, Washington, Portland are in precarious salary positions starting next year... Miami too, but their contracts are all long-term.
Interesting take from a different perspective. Everything is correct but what they think is a fair offer.

I'd not trade a loaf of bread for Cousins. I'd not trade Rubio for Cousins. I don't ever want that guy on the Jazz.I think that the other player who has a legit chance of being traded is DeMarcus Cousins. I'd give them Favors/Hood since he's an expiring as well. Either of those guys, even for a half-season, would be worth the risk to me.
No thanks. Not even close.
Imo Ingram or Kuzma will need to be in play to move Deng and his contract. Wtf wants Randle...
What a dumbass discussion. So we swallow Deng so that we have the option to pick up Randle, a worse option than Favors?
