I'd say no.

Pretty evident tonight, when Gobert's on the floor the Kings really struggled to go in the paint and score. With favors there it's too easy.

This fact isn't missed by national commentators/observers:

More lack of resistance at the rim from Favors on the Gay layup and that'll do it. Not his fault, but he's really just not a center on D.

Harpring also said the same thing on the broadcast re Gobert. It's no secret.

Cousin's absence hurt the Kings down low. Their tallest player was 6'9. Gobert was a man against boys down there. Cousins would have pushed him around pretty easily. Favors is better suited against most lineups.

Favors now has a respectable jump shot. He is basically becoming Blake griffin light without the highlights. A passing power forward who has a mid range game. I think that means the Jazz will be able to start him and Rudy when Rudy is ready to play more minutes and start. Rudy is a ways away from that though.

Yup, been saying this. Ty made Favors bulk up physically to play the C position defensively when Big Al left. I bet he can go back to that shape again when he was playing with Al Jefferson. Why not??

The Gobert / Favors frontline defensively could have a bright future in this league. C'mon Quin - try it!!!!!!!

I feel that Favors is much more comfortable play the power forward position, which would probably make him play better.

Quins' conundrum is probably "If Gobert & Favors start as a pair, who is our defensive big for the 2nd unit"?

At this point in the season - we ain't gonna make the playoffs anymore - let's just ditch the "win now" attitude and try out combinations that will likely have the brightest future going forward.

Favors isn't good enough to make up for Kanters deficiencies. It's a hard call because Favors has been decent this year, and taken a step up. It's frustrating but I feel like we are in the same boat as with Sap, and Big Al. Undersized big men who are good, but aren't good enough on the other end. So who is the better pairing. Gobert and Favors or Kanter and Gobert?

Gobert & Favors IMO. Favors is developing nicely offensively. That jumper is smooth and is becoming more consistent game by game. His defense is already there.

Kanter on the other hand will never be 'there' defensively. He is also not physical enough offensively - his ceiling is really limited unless he can sink that 3point shot.

It was interesting how Kanter hit that open three off the top of the back board and then drained one with pressure on him.

I hope Gobert focuses of his defensive game, and doesnt worry too much about being an offensive player. As long as he can hit hook shots, and dunks I think he can be effective enough. I want him to be a defensive stud, and cause a lot of problems in the paint.

Favors is showing he is developing a J out to about 15 feet.

Gobert is starting to show that he can put the ball on the court in the paint and get to the basket. That is new and a huge improvement for him.

If they continue to improve those skills then Gobert/Favors is a great combo.

I am a huge Kanter fan and think he still has a bright future. BUT right now it's not working. Gobert needs to start.
Kanter can still get 20-30 minutes per game off the bench. He can be our scorer off the bench and play Center and a little PF.
We need defense more then anything right now. With how bad we're playing Snyder has nothing to lose. I also think Trey is one of our biggest problems on defense. The point guard on the opposing team always lights up Trey and also gets into the paint at will causing confusion on defense.

Favors is the answer.

But only to this question: what NBA big man starts for the Utah Jazz but would be a backup for every other team?

The committee would also accept Enes Kanter.

In order for this to happen Favors would need to lose weight. This is a move for next season

We are losing at an incredible pace. Don't tell me that Kanter is faster then Favors on defense. Yes Favors needs to lose weight to play the PF position. But what the hell do we have to lose to try it?

RUDY,RUDY,RUDY!

I've been saying it since before the season started that the answer is starting Rudy at center, playing Favors at pf, and bringing Kanter playing Kanter close to 30 minutes as the backup center and power forward.

Kanter's defense is so bad that it makes Favors' defense look far worse than it actually is. I like the idea of a Favors and Gobert front court in the future. However at this point that would leave Kanter and Booker as the backup bigs. I can't see a lineup of Kanter and Booker working even against backups. For however good Booker started he has been very disappointing lately.

How is a Kanter/Booker lineup worse then a Rudy/Booker lineup?

I do agree that Booker has been disappointing after he looked so good at the start of the season. I love his energy plays but other then that he's been awful.

I disagree. I know it's easy to take shots a Kanter, but we can't blame him for everything. Having poor defenders around a good defensive center will make the center look better as he gets more opportunities to block shots and protect the rim. Blake Griffin is a poor defender but that doesn't make Deandre Jordan look worse, it makes him look better. The same can be said for Tyson Chandler and Dirk, or Bogut and David Lee.
