Is it better that the Jazz keep both picks?

I know that there is still the chance that they can win the lottery and get a higher pick, but with all of these top 5 guys deciding to stay in college I think it is better that the Jazz make a move to get one of the top 2 picks and walk away from this draft with Irving or Derrek Williams. I am not a draft guru so I don't know what it would take to move up to a top 2 but with 2 first rounders and some guys of interest that they can move it seems plausible.....I think they need to get either Irving or Williams for this draft to be a success.......... Thoughts?

I've been thinking and would want to trade if we didn't get Irving, D-Will2 and maybe Biyombo/Kanter but don't think anyone else is really worth a lottery pick.

But think about it, if its a very weak draft why would others want to trade up and take our picks?

The Jazz have three rookies on the team this last year. They have two lottery picks this year, and they have two first round picks next year. It's probably not a good idea to have 7 roster spots for players this young. They need to trade some of the picks. The CBA expiring may hamper the Jazz flexibility this year and you never know what next year will bring. If they can bundle a player and one of the picks to get a good wing, they should do it.

I'd trade 6 & 12 for #2 in a heartbeat. End up with Williams from Arizona (assuming he doesn't go #1). It's a pretty weak draft with 2 stud players. Irving & Williams. Everyone else is a tier below.

Someone should start a 2011 draft thread where all draft ideas can be posted.

Normally I would agree but the regular season's over, playoffs' started without the Jazz in it.. tribjazz twitter has come to a halt.. there's just so little to follow or talk about except the draft..

~__~ it's gonna be a long post season indeed and I'm not about to start watching baseball..

hint: there is already a 2011 draft thread.

another reason a sarcasm font would be amazing.

Yeah, THAT's a great idea!

See what I did there?

Yeah, that's a great idea. You know what would be even more awesome...if the thread eventually became so large that it spanned hundreds of pages and had 2000 posts!!! I'd love to read through that!!! Plus, there are so many other jazz things to discuss between now and draft day that we don't want to clog the front page with draft stuff.

Oh yeah...I've been thinking. Next season, let's just have One GIANT thread for each player! That way we only need 12 different threads so we don't clog up the front page!

Great idea! However, we would need more than 12 different player threads since some people here love talking about players that aren't even on the Jazz anymore or aren't even NBA players (yet). That would make the Boozer and Jimmer fans happy.

Hey we really only one Jazz thread. The draft, the roster, the coaches, the fans, the ESA, Corbin and prospective replacements for him, KFAN interviews, Jazz press conferences, Gary Briggs' infirmary, reruns of old playoff games, Sloan selling his tractors, the movie Celtic Pride, etc. etc. all this stuff is Jazz related so don't go making a bunch of different threads for each one. Mods, please delete all threads except for one. The one titled Jazz. That'll make things a lot simpler.

Irving and Knight spell Harris for me. Two fast guards that aren't that great.

Besides, we can find players like Irving and Knight in nearly every draft in the mid first round. Just look @ guys like Ty Lawson and Tony Parker. We can easily find us a PG in next years draft.

This year, we should focus on a wing and/or a big man.

Tell me Thriller did you have a opinion when Stockton was drafted, and if so was it right. How about Hayward did you have him rated as a player we can find in the top nine of any draft? You must be an amazing judge of players to say the least, for you to tell us we can get a Knight or Irving in any draft. Tell me how high a pick we will need to get us a point guard as good as those two, and since you are so good at knowing the future, tell me when will the Jazz pick as low as 6th in the draft again. Again thanks.

I don't have all the answers.

Yet, I believe finding good big men and wings is much harder than finding good point guards. Nearly every draft features good point guards. From Drose to guys like Ty Lawson.

While you maintain the position that we need to draft a point in the lottery, I maintain the position that Harris is good enough for now. Next year we should be in the lottery too. We can also find good point guards even without being in the lottery.

As long as we're in the lottery for now, lets swing for the fences. Go after a potential big man or wing.

Agreed.... Now if knight just happens to fall in the jazz lap at # 6, and they take him I'm fine with that, but I don't want them to go out of their way and wast assets to get a point this year.

The guys I think the jazz should be looking at at #6 is biyombo, kanter, vesely, and knight, he can play two positions. There doesn't seem to be any pass first pointgaurds in this draft, perhaps we can get one next year.

Yeah, 2012 is supposed to have more guards. This year is a big man crop.

I'm not in love with Knight. Not at pick 6. Not really even at pick 12. He looks good but not great. Meh.
Irving on the other hand looks like he will be an elite PG. But again, elite PGs don't usually equal a championships. Derek Fisher has how many rings?
I mean, if the Jazz got a top 2 pick then I'm totally flummoxed on who to pick because it'll be hard to pass on Irving. My only hesitation on Dwill2 is whether or not he really can play the 3.

Can't wait to hear where the Jazz are picking. But if the Jazz get the top pick right now I can't decide between Irving, Dwill2, Kanter, and Bismack. Yep all 4 of those guys.
