Is Jazz that bad?

Ok, how about defensively? We lose Al's offence, but we gain Favor's defense, while at the same time Favors works with Malone and improves his offence. And Kanter is a solid wall. We no longer have an undersized PF who demands to start, in fact the entire team is at or above league average for size with the exception of Evan's weight and Lucas' size. (Burke is at average height with an above average wingspan) Defensively we have a chance to be significantly better.
 
Hopefully the only appearance Beeds makes is the traditional pre-season rookie dance off.

Somebody better tell Lindsey, because he indicated that they were going to resurrect his career. (and he has shown a penchant for being pretty honest and forthcoming)
 
And what's with the hatred of Biendrins? Dude's seven feet tall and can play the four and the five, AND he's only 27. He's younger than Rush, even though DJ and PK thought otherwise earlier today (funny)

How many seven foot players are there in the NBA that can play the PF? They don't grow on trees, and we got one for nothing, let's give him a chance!
 
We're going to be awful this year. We're going to be starting young players at every position (Hayward is the longest tenured Jazz player now) and our bench is going to be horrible. Our PGs are going to be "meh" until proven otherwise and Corbin is still our coach.

May as well sit back and enjoy the ride.

Favors is a great help and transition defender, but his post d isn't as good as Jefferson (gets pushed backward too easily), and he needs a lot of pnr improvement. He does that same flash screen your own guy thing that Jefferson did.

Still though, I have a hard time seeing this team as anything but much better defensively. Mo, Watson & Tinsley had to be the worst defending point guard rotation in the league. I thought Foye was underrated defensively, but Burks has more potential there once he learns the ropes. Losing DeMarre sucks until you realize Brandon Rush is an even better defender with offensive weapons. If he's healthy then the Jazz filled a huge gap there.

Favors-Kanter-Rush-Hayward-Burke with Burks as the sixth man should be adequate defensively, worst case scenario.
 
We aren't starting young players except Burke and maybe Kanter, we are starting NBA veterans that are on the verge of hitting their prime. Remember, we have already played Hayward and Favors for three seasons now, and if Rush starts at the 2 with Burks backing up both the one and the two, our front line isn't actually that young.

(I am actually a bit nervous starting Kanter, but the dude is tough as nails, so it should be OK.)
 
I'm worried about the Jazz defending stretch fours as well. Jeremy Evans should get some burn there but that's all we have.

This is where Marvin can be good for the Jazz. He can play as a stretch 4 and defend that as well. I really think that not having Mo and Al will help Marvin a lot and he will improve leaps and bounds this year. I would love to get 12 pts, 6 rebs witn 45% fg and 36% 3 pt from him.
 
In the race for Lebron and Carmelo --Denver and Cleveland won 17 games each.

Cleveland had 10 of 14 players under 24 years of age.


Yea, the Jazz is that bad.

However, I am not seeing other teams like n.o. , portland , pistons,bobcats that bad either.

If Trey can step and be a starting caliber PG, I see the ceiling for this team at about 40 wins - if not I can see the floor at about 28-32 wins. In other words, definitely not a playoff team; but probably not a bottom feeder either.

I think November is going to be very, very ugly for this team. Like 3-12 ugly.

I really think we're undervaluing these players ATM. The discussion, and discovery, all last season was whether the youngins had become better than the vets, and it was hard to make any real distinction by season's end.

The one thing this bunch is sorely lacking is consistency that the veteran presence brought, especially Al Jefferson. His offense sucked hard, but he was the lynchpin holding it all together. This group will take some time figuring out who will be the new cornerstone to replace Al. I'm not sure one will emerge, but have high hopes for Kanter to step up big.

This squad could very well finish with 40 wins, and it should given the investment costs.

There is more to judging ability than age. Post up a list of the actual Cavs team that year and let's compare players. Did they consist of a starting five as talented as ours?

Remember how excited we were for the team to suck and then we watched Trey fall on his face in summer league and we all gasp?

It's gonna be ugly and I don't think I or most everyone else is really ready to watch that. I think we fantasize about a low number of wins but definitely don't fantasize about watching the team miss shots, turn the ball over, lose their man on D, pick up tons of early fouls, look lost and confused, get embarrassed by middle of the pack teams game after game...

I don't think this team is going to be good. Not because we don't have the pieces to be good but because we're just not there yet. Get ready for summer league x1000.
 
Potential must turn into reality while looking at players and schedule after it. So even though our young core players are great on paper and ready to go, you gotta regard the all facts of experience, durability,minutes, pressure, motivation etc. So 35 win is good and realistic quess for me.
 
I remember growing up in the Seattle area and the Sonics stunk so bad one year that they lost to the Sixers that won something like 9 games that year and it cost Tom Nissalke the head coach's job that went to Bill Russell.

Oh it'll be rough. Especially the ones they lose at the very end from inexperience. Those will be the worst. just got to keep the big picture in mind.
