What's new

Is Rondo a shell of his former self?

I'd say so.

Yeah, I would say so. I remember all the premature talk of him breaking Stockton's assist and steal records. Laughable. So much talk of the greatness of a player is premature garbage started by the media looking for clickbait. Currently, it's Curry being the greatest shooter of all time. Don't get me wrong, I believe he's supremely talented but let's see where his career leads him before he's considered one of the all time greats.

While rondos future is uncertain, so is the future of the mavericks. They tried to extend Nowitkzis career by bringing in all the veteran guys. Do they try it one more year, of do they blow it up?

I love Dirk and I would love to see him have another run, but they should have never broke up the championship squad.

Let's look.

From 2008-2015 in Boston, Rondo averaged 10.3 assists with 3.3 TO's on a per game basis. That doesn't grow on trees.

He's never been a great 3pt shooter(but his % has increased in Dallas). Nor FT shooter, although he did get to the line a fair amount.

I think his numbers show it's fair to say he was a great facilitator, but not always a great scorer.
He was a great defender too and a good rebounder for his position

I find it highly likely that both Perkins and Rondo were extremely overrated because they were playing with 3 really good/great players. Rondo hasn't been the same guy since that team broke up. It's why I have never had interest in having him on the Jazz.
Perkins is on a whole other level of suck

His numbers didn't drop dramatically until he went to Dallas. 8 pts 10 assists with 3.4 TO's this year until he left Boston. Which is good considering how young the team is.

He just wasn't a good fit with Dallas. With Dirk, Ellis, and Parsons there he should have been amazing. He couldn't adjust to the new system, probably because he's a bit of a basket case.
