What's new

Is SLC the only NBA city where......?

The only issue with this is you still get tons of Giants/A's and Niner/Raiders fans in Sacremento since they are only 90 minutes away.

True, but how can you tell who is more popular? You can't.

Los Angeles-USC/Dodgers
Oklahoma City-OU/OSU
Portland-most likely but still a crap load of Duck fans

These other three are all football towns:

San Antonio
Charlotte
Memphis

Please name me Memphis and San Antonio's football team.

The Warriors are the most popular team right now. It might be Raiders in the Warriors down years, but when the Warriors are good, it's their town.

Beantown's definition of "local" is way too broad. You should have just said most popular in-state team.

I think it is interesting to note that Slc is the only NBA city withou another big 4 sports franchise(NBA,NFL,MLB,NHL) within a 500 mile radius.

This along with the Wasatch fronts exploding growth is why I think we will see one of those sports make a home in salt Lake within the next 15 years.

Take the NFL there is an arguement to be made that we could support a team better than 2-4 current NFL cities. L.A. is obviously the next city to get a team after that it's between Portland and Salt Lake.

I could see a baseball team coming to Utah.

Edit: Also there are 3 normal routes from SLC to Denver. One of them is 488 miles. HA!

If you want to look at it moment to moment, the A's are quite popular right now, and not just because baseball's the only thing going on...

Plus The Warriors are supported by San Fran and Oakland (and will soon be technically located in San Fran, and not Oakland), so they probably have more fans than the Raiders.

Not sure if talking bull-****(figuratively and literally) but ain't the Bulls #1 over the baseball teams?

More than the Cubs?

What about da Bears?

It was more of a question...I just thought the Bulls were Chicago's darling as they even managed to sell our their place post MJ rebuilding years and right now you'd prolly have to order tickets 3 years in advance...

How are we judging popularity?

% of games sold out? (Kind of unfair though because there are only 8 home games per year for Football)

I guess a better judge would be merch sales. Anyone know those numbers?

If considering cities rather than states, I would include Sacramento, OKC, and San Antonio. Who gets more love Bucks or Brewers? Green Bay isn't in Milwaukee.
