It Might Be Time to Go Dumpster Diving

I'm sorry, I've been pretty lazy when reading the forum(caught myself repeating other people the other day too).

I'm not sure he's good right now. Nate Robinson was chosen ahead of him. How good can he really be if that's the case? I guess that ship has sailed. He should have come back to the NBA several years ago when he was killing it in Europe.

Yeah, Phil Pressley is now available as well. From Eurobasket there was at least one poster praising Nando De Colo and he was right. Killing it in Euroleague this year as well, but of course have to wait til next year for him. By the way there is one spot left in the Jazzfanz.com fantasy league if you are interested.

The Greek Freak's brother thanasis was waived by the Knicks.

Phil Pressey was waived by the Blazers and he looked awful in the preseason.

I thought Jonathan Holmes was an intriguing player in the last draft, but the lakers just waived him so he must be pretty bad.

Chris Walker was waived by Houston. He was a top rated recruit out of high school, but super raw and a head case I believe

Austin Daye was waived by the Cavs. Spurs fans didn't like him when he was on their team the last couple of years, but he's 6'11" and has shot 35% from 3 in his career

Holmes got injured. Maybe the reason he was cut.

Ish Smith got waived as did Lorenzo Brown. I wouldn't mind Brown as our third PG if he promised not to take jump shots as he doesn't turn the ball over very often and he can generate assists.

Eh, there is nothing there better than anyone but Johnson maybe. That isn't enough to care about.

I say that we should roll with:

Gobert/Withey/Pleiss
Favors/Booker/Lyles
Hayward/Ingles/Johnson
Hood/Burks/Millsap
Neto/Burke/Exum*

We have a bunch of assets, tradeable contracts and some cap room if a chance to make a good trade comes along.

I find it super funny people think this is a playoff squad? LMAO Top 5 pick again for you Jazz next year

You should post your prediction of how many wins the Jazz will get and what teams will make the playoffs in the west.

So guys available now: Pierre Jackson, Ish Smith, Jabari Brown, JP Tokoto, and Toney Douglas. Not sure anybody worth picking up though.

Damn, Pierre Jackson got cut?

I think he is a better version of Bryce Cotton.

Also Elliot Williams, Reggie Williams, Damien Wilkens. Also does anyone know if Bryce Cotton's rights would go the Stampede and has he received any nibbles from NBA teams?

Yes, Philly so strange. They have been waiving their players one by one today. Their latest cuts are Scott Wilbekin and Aldemir (which is kind of surprising). they have one more cut to go.

Well if Jazz liked Elliot Williams the first time around he may have a shot.

Yeah, I was wrong about that one. Surprised they cut him since they have to pay him a million guaranteed.

They really like TJ. They have one more cut to go though. Tough that one guy is not going to play this year, but they knew he had health problems before they drafted him.

Unpopular opinion alert:

I'd consider releasing C. Johnson and picking up Perry Jones since it appears Jones has cleared waivers now and can be picked up for less money. I know Jones's shortcomings and wouldn't really expect much out of him. But then again, Johnson may be inactive for most games as well.

Given where the Jazz are, I'd rather have a talented project as the 14th man than someone who may be a bit steadier with a lower ceiling. I also think whatever we can get out of Johnson could be replicated with a D-league call up, while the lineup versatility Jones potentially provides is a bigger long-term asset.

Johnson's major advantage (in addition to steady play) is shooting. Jones's is size, ball-handling, and defensive versatility. To the extent that the League is becoming a bit "positionless," I like that latter set of skills better.
