What's new

It's happening bros...

I think Middleton and Hayward would start on the wings. So Middleton would replace Jingles.

Jingles is getting minutes because everyone is injured. I'm not talking about the remaining third of this year.

Suns won't give up Thomas now that it's certain Dragic is gone.

Yep...
In a way I think the Suns will be better off long-term by not extending Dragic. I've expressed that opinion previously, but I really thought they were going nowhere with maxing out 2 point guards and paying 7m/year to their third PG. Now they will have enough money to allocate for other positions. They might suffer a temporary setback, but I feel like they will have better opportunities to succeed long-term...

Oh, ok. We would have a logjam when Burks and Hood come back, but that is assuming that Hood is an NBA player, and that we keep Jingles. Three good wings would be pretty awesome.

I look forward to seeing what the Suns get for Dragic. With so many teams interested in him it should be interesting.

The fact KOC is in town leads me to believe a deal is now even less likely to happen. Is anyone more reluctant to pull the trigger than KOC?

Who made the blockbuster deal sending Deron to the Nets? He actually lined up a couple of deals involving AK that were nixed by Larry H. Deadline deals are often made to shed salary or just make PR moves to appease fans. They're often one-sided. KOC generally made his moves in the off-season (Harris for Williams, assets for Jefferson, etc.). I'd say his overall record of making trades was actually pretty good, especially given that the directive from ownership was to remain competitive (i.e. make the playoffs) while not taking on long-term salaries. He put the team in great position to either re-up with the veterans or rebuild under Lindsey.

What do you expect, a fire sale like Denver? I'm sure if we put Favors or Hayward on the market there would be a ton of trade scenarios popping up.

He takes more shots because he scores A LOT more. That's like complaining Melo is too good offensively.

Yet precisely for that reason, Sacramento didn't want him anymore (he wasn't involving Cousins and others enough) and he's alienated the Suns' best PG, Dragic. Congrats to Phoenix. In trying to hedge against Bledsoe leaving, they brought in a guy who is causing their best player to leave.

Suns have completely screwed up their team. I'd much rather be Utah right now than Phoenix.

Dragic said that he is only interested in signing with Miami, Knicks, Lakers.

Apparently most teams are backing away from him

I bet he goes to Miami. They are the only team on his list that needs him now.

Oh? Does he have character issues? I don't know about these things. But as a player, he would be greatly beneficial to the Jazz. He would instantly give us one of the best benches in the NBA (if Hood becomes decent).

His TS% is pretty good. But the problem with him is that he's a ballhog... even more so than Trey. With him the problem is not that he won't score efficiently, it's that he has tunnel vision and will be passing even less than Trey... It's all a question of whether or not you think you can make that work with the system. To me he looks like a perfect piece off the bench if you lack scoring, but not so good a piece to start and orchestrate your team...

According to some reports - yes... according to others it's just the "chip on the shoulder" attitude. Different people seem to take it in different ways...

I'm not saying he has character issues. I'm just saying he's known as a PG who doesn't pass the ball. Burke is a poor man's Thomas. He has the same shooter's mentality but just doesn't convert as many shots.

But it really doesn't matter. I think Dragic is going to Miami. They've apparently offered two firsts. Phoenix wants more, but they won't get it. Just like we had to do with Deron (not taking a chance on him leaving as a FA), they HAVE to pull the trigger. And that mean Thomas will remain with Phoenix.

It's posts like this that makes you one of my favorite posters on this forum, Stifle.

Couldn't agree more. And frankly, it makes me appreciate what KOC did with the DWill trade, both in terms of the assets he got back as well as the finesse with which he executed it. ("Yeah, would you be interested in AK? No? Who would you be interested in?") Rather than: "Deron wants to be traded and will only go to a big market. What would you give up for him?"
