It is irreparably broken as witnessed by the players rejecting the smoothing, and the likes of Dragic and Kanter trying to force their way out of the small market teams. Star players have already hinted there were too many teams, and I believe they, and their agents, will push for a league with 18 teams or less. A league where superstars can join their super friends for super teams. The tv revenues for the super teams will be split fewer ways resulting in higher salaries for the super players and higher commissions for the super agents.

The competition for the 18 spots will be fierce, and utah will have to fight to get in. The inherited ownership, recent poor performance, and general dislike of the state by owners and players alike will make the jazz easy chopping block targets.

The good news is the 12 teams can combine with 8-10 new teams to form a true minor league for the NBA, and the jazz can continue living by developing players and selling their contracts to NBA teams. Perhaps the new league can form an alliance with Europe and have a true international championship, or atleast multiple games against each other thus offering a fresh approach and new story lines to compete with the dull and tired stories the nba would try to offer.

So eat, drink, and watch merrily, because in 2017 the nba will die.

Middleton is what we hope Hood will become. And he's just a year older than Hood. My biggest worry with Middleton is that somebody will throw 12-15M at him in the summer...
 
Getting Middleton would be great IF there's no other major assets going to Milwaukee. I've said all along that the Jazz should focus on getting another wing, and Middleton is another guy who can grow with the Core guys. I personally think that Kanter is worth more, so I'd prefer to see Utah get a decent pick back too. Both guys are young and developing, but I think Kanter's potential ceiling is higher.
 
Milwaukee has the fat mormon kid right? Maybe they would trade him for kanter. Straight up. We don't even need them to throw in a pick or whatever.

If you can get Middleton, you take that deal and run the other way laughing, even if we have to part with one of our bajillion second round picks. Difference is that Middleton is worth 12 million a season. Kanter is not, especially to the Utah Jazz.

Middleton is in no way shape or form worth 12 million. He's a role player at this point. He's not very aggressive not a good defender
