SRS what did they think was going to happen?

I agree. That's why I posted elsewhere (earlier in this thread?) that his lack of passing out of the double-team is really what irks me the most. His defense I can live with, especially if he continues to improve a bit more on that front.

Last year he had 1.3 assists per 36 to pair with his 2.4 TO's. That isn't that bad of an assist/to ratio for a center. It still like a C- but at least it isn't an F----- (Kanter had the 18th most asissts per game for a center despite lack of minutes last year https://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/player/_/stat/assists/sort/avgAssists/year/2014/position/centers). Kanter was improving on his passing every year but since this year is a contract year I have a feeling he passing less by design.

I have a gut feeling nothing is going to happen, and that annoys the hell out of me. I reaaalllllllly don't want to watch Kanter for the second half of the season.

lol, and the dramatically increasing hate Kanter is getting. Get a grip guys. Jazz will continue to develop all their players.

Ian Begley
Fisher says Shane Larkin will not play tomorrow due to strep throat. FWIW, Utah had recently shown interest in Larkin, per league sources.

If all we're being offered is a 2nd or crappy players, do you have to pull the trigger now?

Who says Kanter will still be on the team next Fall? We can retain his rights and deal him in a S&T. We can rescind the QO before he signs it to clear up cap space to sign a high quality FA. Or he can sign the QO and be traded sometime next year.

We have no way of knowing what has been offered for Enes. I don't care about 2nd's; they're virtually worthless. Those can be bought if needed. Or Jazz can bring in players with as much value as a 2nd as free agents (Elijah, Ingles, etc.).

I agree Gobert needs to start. Even IF Enes comes back, I'd trust Quin to make the right call. They're not going to try to placate Enes if he's on a 1yr QO.

As for Booker, the Jazz hold his option for next season. Sure, he wants more PT. But if he sees Kanter will be gone, I think he'll make his determination at that point. He's in a good spot - unless he thinks he can still be a starter somewhere else.

I agree that I wouldn't take a crap offer either, but I wouldn't be holding out for a great deal either. If I could have gotten at least on first or decent young player, I would have pulled the trigger. I'm not worried about Kanter becoming a super star and coming back to haunt us, like Harden did to OKC.

It's kind of a addition by subtraction. It get Rudy his deserved playing time, and frees our books a little.

My feeling is that the Jazz were asking way too much, and actually consider Kanter a possible part of the future. And I don't see how that's going to work. Kanter sees himself as a starter.

Not trading Kanter really sucks.

Not only do we run the chance of letting him walk for nothing, but in order to get him to stay, we will probably have to give him the max or close to it. Which isn't a good idea on any level.

This is only going to complicate things with Rudy Gobert. Sooner or later he has to start. Its effing retarded if he doesnt. Even if we find 30 min a piece for Rudy, Favors, and Gobert, then that just means Booker walks because he won't be happy. So keeping Kanter means bye bye to Booker.

Kanter won't stay unless he gets the max. His qualifying offer is 7.8 mil. If all you are offering is 10 mil per, he'll just say no thanks and will take the qualifying offer and get a lot more the following year when the cap goes up.

There is a small chance we can do a sign and trade in the offseason, but not likely.

I predict Kanter takes his qualifying offer, or the Jazz are forced to offer the max and then we are stuck with Kanter for a long time. While Kanter just eats into Gobert's minutes. Neither of those scenarios are good for the team

Yeah OK, but don't we also want to send a message to all the players that they can't just "demand a trade" and the Jazz will simply "kowtow" to their demands? .

Of course if we get an offer we can't refuse then by all means do it, but if not why bend over backwards to just appease him?

It's too quiet not for anything to happen. Jazz our just milking this thing. The teams that were mentioned to like Kanter haven't done anything either.. I think he goes to Kings or Bucks. A trade needs to happen. I think everyones waiting to see what happens with Dragic / Jackson...Once they fall Kanter will be next!

I love watching the Jazz let another asset dissolve. There is many reasons to move Kanter yet O'lindesy can't seem to see that.

I swear every trade deadline we get all worked up and excited, and then nothing happens...I'm just gonna assume we keep Kanter and if something happens then cool. I've always liked Kanter personally

Worrying about whether or not you are sending the wrong message shouldn't have much play at all in this situation. Trading Kanter was the right thing to do before he demanded a trade.

Every situation is different. If Favors or Hayward, or Gobert were to demand a trade right now, we wouldn't be trying to trade them unless there was a great deal to be had.

From what I have read the Jazz will still be seriously considering matching any offer Kanter gets as long as it is not to rich. If Kanter can continue to extend his range and pass the ball a little more. He, Favors, and Gobert could be quite the threesome for years to come. So I would not say the Jazz are letting an asset dissolve if they do not trade him.

I'd rather hold onto Kanter through the deadline than sell him for 40 cents on the dollar now. Maybe he has a change of heart by the offseason, but if not, he would still have solid value this offseason (assuming we extend him a QO, which I can't imagine we wouldn't do).

If a team out there is dying for him, and he still wants out, I can see a nice S&T in the works.
