Jaylen Brown

Jaylen Brown has been my primary 2021 target for a while. He does fit perfectly and he is on the outside of that Boston rotation. I don't think he carries that much trade value for an AD trade. If Boston rivals LA for AD, its going to come down to Tatum and picks vs Kuzma, Ingram and/or Lonzo.

What we do know right now is that Boston loves Vucevic from Orlando. He fits them perfectly now and would still fit perfectly if they do find a way to get AD.

Something like this works for all 3 teams: http://tradenba.com/trades/rJXg1RjbE

Boston gets Vucevic, Utah 2020 1st, future protected 1st from Orlando

Magic get Favors, Rozier, and Yasubele

Jazz get Jaylen Brown and Mozgov

Why for Boston - Vucevic makes them a contender, and the 1st rounders are something Ainge craves

Why for Magic - they would see Favors as a decent replacement for Vucevic plus they get their PG in Rozier. Brown isnt a requirement for them in this trade because they already have Gordon, Isaac and Fournier.

Why for Utah - Brown seems to fit perfectly. We don't want Mozgov, but getting Brown and having to take Mozgov is the price of doing the business.

Orlando says no.

I’m not convinced Brown can shoot. I like him but they are saving him as AD bait. I prefer Ingram but I bet I’d be in the minority.

Unless he demanded a trade and actively worked to get his way out they won’t trade him until they know they are out on AD... even then I doubt he’s available.

What does Orlando do with Vucevic... dudes an all star this year. They have a front court log jam... his FA will be fascinating.

Boston is going to try very hard to get Vucevic. He is exactly what they lack and they would value him over a reserve SF and reserve restricted free agent PG.

Salary matching is really tricky for them.

That's why I think a 3rd team would be necessary.

Within the rules, Boston could trade Brown, Rozier and Yasubele for Vucevic and draft assets. However, I don't think Orlando would send more than 1 1st in that deal and Boston would want more than a 1st and Vucevic for those 3.

1) Brown is not a shooter.
2) Brown will be a central asset in the trade package for AD, so, until the AD issue is resolved he is not going anywhere.
3) Celtics are patient and will not make win now moves that sacrifice the potential of the next two years.
4) Celtics would laugh if offered Favors, Exum & Jazz 1st. That is such a ridiculous offer. Any slight positive value offered by Favors is offset with the negative value of Exum, so basically you are offering a mid/late draft pick for Brown. Yet, the Celtics wouldn't trade Brown for Lenard this off-season.

Who is your primary target for 2030?

Do you know a guy named Danny Ainge? Tell him that. Even so. He still carries trade value. No where near his prim, and has shown upside. He’s just having a down year
2030 is TBD. Too far way. 2021 was my Brown target date since he is a restricted free agent and we will be cycling out a number of old players.

I wasn't talking about Ainge. I was talking about the New Orleans Pelicans. Boston will pursue AD this summer. Tatum and picks will be the bulk of that trade. New Orleans probably likes Brown, but he isn't the deal breaker. 1st rounders and Tatum could still get the job done (of course other salaries would have to be added to make the salaries work - hell, might be Hayward).

Boston doesn't want to include Tatum though... they want to do it with Brown. If it is Boston's draft picks and Brown plus salary that lines up well with LA's potential Ingram and picks offer. As we know Ainge won't pay one penny more than he has to. I think they want to keep Irving, Tatum and get AD.

They should move Rozier for another pick as another liquid asset to throw in the deal. It sounds like first rounders are hard to come by in the trade market right now. .

There is no way Brown and picks gets AD. Brown only has one year before he becomes a restricted free agent. Boston would love to keep Tatum, but I just dont see it happening at all. The Lakers could send 2 or 3 first rounders plus two of Lonzo, Kuzma and Ingram. That trade trumps Boston's offer of Brown and a bunch of non-top ten picks.

At the end of the day, I still hold to my prediction that the Lakers trade for AD at the deadline. The Pelicans are plumetting right now. AD's reps already said its not all about money so NOLA waiting for the extension is kind of a moot point. AD is represented by LeBron's guy. The Lakers could be really aggressive and just do it even if they trade all their young guys. They could be poised to add to LBJ and AD this summer too.

That sounds really Orlando Magicy... could totally see the previous regime doing that.
I think it's the right thing if you can find the right trade for Bamba. Big men have such little trade value though. They really need a point and I don't know who's giving up a good PG for a center, even a young lottery center.

Maybe the Mavericks would swap DSJ for Bamba, but IDK.

In a career year for Vuc, the Magic still stink. Vucevic is unrestricted. Orlando holds zero leverage unless they want to break the bank. They would be so unwise to pay him top dollar to stay.

And give up on Bamba that quickly? Cmon

Boston has up to 4 likely first round picks this summer, if not 3-4 next. I think they can trade enough picks and Haywood for AD if it's clear AD is leaving and NO needs to rebuild.
