Jazz 2017/18 Playoff Bus! All Aboard!

Facts about Thunder:

1. We beat them in the first game. Westbrook was pretty much non-existent.

2. Second game we lost by 6 with Gobert fresh off a return.

3. We got blown out in the third game without Gobert.

4. We have not played them since December.

5. They locked Donovan down with Roberson.

6. We have never faced them since the defensive emergence of Royce.

7. We have had JJ and Hood when we played them.

8. They have not faced us with Crowder.

9. They have never game-planned for the new-look Jazz.

10. Carmelo sucks.
We also we're blowing them out in that second game but we had played a ridiculous schedule and that was a rough back to back and the Jazz ran out of energy. It was very apparent in that game jazz simply had nothing in the tank.

We can beat them. Then they will break up, just like clippers.

This is what I'm talking about (I haven't actually been talking about it). All these people worried about how the pre-surge Jazz played. Don't you guys realize this team that is about to go to the playoffs is NOT THE SAME TEAM that was what, 19-28? Throw everything that team did out the window. That's not the team headed for the playoffs.

I'm not going to go crazy and flat out say the jazz are better than the Warriors or the Rockets, but other than those guys, the Jazz have been the best team in the west for a while now.

OKC hopes they don't draw a matchup with the Jazz in the first round. Just like every other team we might play. None of them want to face us.

Well there's a really good chance Memphis at least tries against OKC, they're locked into 2nd in the tank race. Hopefully Gasol goes bonkers, but I'm not going to hold my breath

It dates back to last year tho. Jazz were 1-3 against them last year despite being the superior team.

Adams doesn't outplay Gobert, but he certainly annoys him.

How does Rubio matchup defensively against the hyper athletic Russ?

They have one of the best perimeter defenders to stick on Mitchell in PG13. Will that ruin our offense?

OKC just matches up well against us.

The hyper athlete PGs give Rubio trouble.

Long defenders give Mitchell trouble.

Physical centers can bother Rudy.

I just hope Ingles actually shows up this year offensively in the playoffs because I don't think the Jazz can beat OKC if he doesn't.

The biggest positive for the Jazz is that Melo has sucked this year. I still worry about him getting hot and winning OKC a game tho.

OKC is our worst matchup of the bunch pre-jazz turn around or not. All star treatment comes to play more in the playoffs. Adams has been difficult for gobert.

Also, home court may not be an advantage for our team in the playoffs. We play better on the road tbh. Interesting 48 hours ahead.

This one hurt really bad. Jazz were up 72-55 and 80-68 entering the 4th. OKC finished 32-14.

Wed, Dec 20 @Oklahoma City LOST 79-107
http://www.espn.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=400975211
Right in the middle of the nightmarish times. No Gobert, No Mitchell. OKC started 25-9 and never looked back.Udoh, Johnson, Burks and Hood combined for 89 minutes. Wolters and Bradley got 8 minutes of garbage time.

Sat, Dec 23 vsOklahoma City LOST 89-103
http://www.espn.com/nba/recap/_/id/400975239
Again, right in the thick of our crisis. No Gobert. Mitchell was a monster, but the rest of the team didn't show up. Udoh, Johnson, Burks and Hood combined for 80 minutes.

December and april. Apples and oranges.

So we win out, we tie the 04/05 Nuggets.

This

My reasoning for not wanting okc was never about how we played them this year. It’s the officiating favoritism they will receive and bad matchups.

Jazz are nobody’s underdogs. Th turnaround is incredible and Quin has them healthy, hungry and focused. Our defense is going to savage people and that + the home court altitude is going to cause issues.

I still wish they had one more perimeter defender or bench 3 point shooter. . . but they are what they are at this point. Limit the turnovers, hit their threes and make free throws and they’ll surprise some people.

So, OKC tightened the race. Denver did their part by beating Portland but Miami let us down. So the Jazz need to win out to capture the 3rd seed. If the Jazz drop one that will tie us record wise with OKC and they have the tiebreaker.

So Jazz need to win tonight and tomorrow.

Jazz have been playing playoff basketball since January. No team has had to overcome the obstacles that Utah has this year. . .

. . . they’re ready to prove that they are contenders. That’s the thing about Rudy as Donovan’s leadership. They believe they can beat anyone. Now it’s time to back it up.

I'd rather root for Denver > Minny and NO > SA.

If we lose out, DEN beating MIN would put us at 6 facing POR regardless of what happens in NO/SA. If MIN wins, we'll need NO to beat SA or we'd drop to 7 and face GSW.

I'd prefer HC, but if we had to face either POR or OKC on the road, I'm choosing POR.
