Jazz 2017/18 Playoff Bus! All Aboard!

45-37 projected record, 79% chance of making the playoffs, and 2% chance of winning the championship after tonight's game according to FiveThirtyEight

Very encouraging. Don't think the odds are as good as 79% though, don't trust fivethiryeight a ton. Think it is probably closer to 50%. The problem is the Clippers might be slightly better or at least as good as they were before, Portland, Denver, and New Orleans are all desperate as hell and those franchises probably view the playoffs as a much. That being said, I don't think NO makes it. It'll be a five horse race.

I think our players want it really bad, and I think we are better than NO and maybe the clips. We will see what happens. Hope Jae fits in right away and returns to boston form. OKC will make it and I think Portland will too. So we have to beat the clippers, new orleans, and denver. Four horses for two spots. And two of those horses have jockeys who owe money to the mob and are racing for their kneecaps. It's going to be tough.

Warriors v Nuggets (GSW in 4)
Rockets v Blazers (HOU in 4)
Spurs v Jazz. (jazz in 6)
Thunder v Wolves (Thunder in 6)

Warriors v Thunder. (GSW in 6)
Rockets v Jazz (rockets in 4)

Warriors v Rockets. (Warriors in 7)

Either wins the championship in 5 or 6

That’s my post season projection.

No way the Rockets sweep the Jazz.

Not bad. I would take that. Though I think we win at least one against houston. maybe 2.

Can we talk about... in hushed tones... If the Jazz make the playoffs and Mitchell finishes the season with a line looking something like 20/4/4, has he done enough to take ROTY away from Simmons?

He should absolutely win it under those circumstances. Especially considering Simmons is a fake rookie.

We don’t lose to Houston in the post season.

I can’t believe anyone would think we wouldn’t have a chance against Houston in the playoffs. Those guys are weak sauce and, like any D’Antoni team, great for a regular season showing and an epic playoff meltdown. Just look at their psychological makeup. Wait until Harden gets a little roughed up from Crowder and O’Neale. Wait to see CP3’s response to getting locked down by INGLES on a couple plays. They’ll be looking ahead to the next series and, before they know it, they’re playing in an elimination game.

If Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell remain healthy then I think that the projection may be accurate. We are 16-13 this year in games Rudy has played in. And many of those 13 losses came very early in the year before Donovan had emerged as a star and Rubio had adjusted to the team. We are 9-2 since Rudy came back from his most recent injury and we have Donovan and Rubio rolling. Our defensive rating without Rudy was in the bottom 5 of the NBA. When Rudy plays our defensive rating is in the top 3-5 in the NBA. I think we are a better team than the record shows.

We will never know but I wonder what our record would have been if Rudy had stayed healthy this season. Does he get us 7 or 8 more wins so far and we are sitting close to the 3 seed? Maybe not but we are definitely a few games higher.

Yep. Pels sucked a big one in the 4th, but the Nets couldn finish them off. If the 76ers can hang on against the Clippers, there’s a 3 way tie for the 7th and 8th spots.
