What's new

Jazz and Bulls are in active trade discussions regarding Zach LaVine

I do think Lavine is underrated as a player, people especially rag on his defense....but I don't think it's as bad as people make it out to be. He as always seen as an "empty calories" kind of players, but some of the metrics don't hate his defense too much. IIRC, his adjusted +/- stuff is fairly decent.

Lavine is closing in on 30 years old
He seems to be a win now piece
Is that what Jazz want?

Hey jazz organization lurkers that have nothing better to do than take the pulse of the fans and/or get grist for the mill on moves:

Please just don’t. Please.
(That being said, if this is a stealth tank move and window dressing for the fans and Lauri to get excited about or whatever… maybe that’s fine. Maybe you can sit him the entire year.)

You could further abbreviate this to just be the Costanza principle of, whatever instinct you have, do the exact opposite.

He's always hurt and has one of the worst contracts in the entire league. That would be another Jazz trade to make the team on pace for another #10 draft pick.

I’m a “thanks, but no thanks” on LaVine. Just way too much money without getting significant assets back. I still think the Jazz will have better options available to them down the road. I’m fine with the Jazz being included as an “interested party” for any major trade rumors right now. . . but save your ammo for a real difference maker.

Jazz would be getting some sort of assets back for taking LaVine. Can't see it happening any other way unless we have some plan to sit him for the season with his foot injury. Like an agreement that he doesn't play at first and we slowly bring him back to help the tank. Then we go ham in 2025 with Cooper Flagg, Lauri, Sexton, and LaVine

I just don't think I want Lavine really at all. I get it though.
This x 100.

Lavine is a better player than Clarkson and Collins individually and combined. No question. But Lavine is injury prone, a black hole, a crummy attitude, and very expensive.

If we pull off Patrick Williams or a 1st round upgrade as well, then its a steal. Clarkson and Collins feels vertical in a lot of ways.
