Jazz Free Agency Summer of 2018

I agree with what Wes said earlier. Jabari might be our best shot at getting a star for the next couple of years. I know he’s shaky on D but **** man we could use another scorer next to Spida.

Two years ago he averaged 20.1 PPG and shot 37% from three. He’s the ideal stretch four. We need to go for it.
 
Y'all making a big deal about an article written by a journalist Bucks fans are almost uniformly calling Jabari's biggest homer -- an article many of them feel could have been written by Jabari's agent himself (Mark Bartelstein).

It's very likely just an article put out to try to help build Jabari's market by mentioning every team that at one time or another has been rumored to like Jabari

I'm starting to think we're just going to re-sign Favors, Exum, and Neto and run it back next year with basically the exact same team. If we do anything else, I think it'll be adding a scrub like McDermott or Bertans. I have a feeling it's gonna be a really boring offseason for us Jazz fans.

Totally cool with running it back with Favs, Ex, and Neto.

At least one of the NGs needs to get the boot because it would be such a goddamn waste of an opportunity this offseason to not use the MLE to get a bargain deal on a really good player like Avery Bradley, Will Barton, Ariza, Evans, KCP, or Bjelica. As Larsen points out, we are likely the best team with access to the full MLE.

So many teams are gonna have money next year. That’s why 2019 cap space is somewhat overrated.

Unless I'm misunderstanding things, the non-guaranteed contracts have zero effect on whether we can use the full MLE.

That might be an issue, but then Neto can be thrown in there as well as someone to let go of. Nothing about the non-guaranteed status compared to the RFA status. It's just about who you don't want to keep.

I’d love it if we spent a bunch of Bartlestein’s time negotiating an offer, get close to an over inflated number to throw at Jabari and then at the end pull the offer and tell Bartlefink that we actually haven’t decided yet and we need another day to agonize about it. Then post an article titled Thank you Jabari that details our most sincere thanks but that we need to do what’s best for our family

Roster is: (roughly)

Gobert/Bradley
Crowder
Ingles/O’Neale
Mitchell/Burks
Rubio/Allen

That’s 9

Udoh, Sefolosha and Jerebko are team options. That’s 12.

Exum, Neto and Gorgeous George are RFAs. If they match on all 3 that’s 15

Favors is a priority. That’s 16 of the Jazz re-sign him.

Using the MLE on a secondary offensive creator (biggest need imo) would be 17.

Imo Neto and Gorgeous George would be the ones to go. That or Favors leaves and Gorgeous George is let go.
