Jazz Free Agency Summer of 2018

Deng....what a horrific contract they signed him to. A reminder you need to be super careful signing players over 30 to big deals. They can turn into albatrosses that haunt and cripple you.

I'm telling you guys, if LA gets LBJ and PG, either Kuzma or Ingram is expendable. LeBron wants vets and that team desperately needs depth. They would love to trade Lonzo, but his Dad and his injury issues make him untradedable as a good asset.

Guys like Tobias? Hell no. Lets just run it back with our old team.

Tobias is a really good player and would be a great fit on this team. He would be the stretch 4 the Jazz have been looking for and would easily be our second leading scorer. He's a great 3 point shooter and the spacing he would give us on offense would be huge. I would take him over Favors any day of the week.

Stopped through Vegas and had to make a quick stop for this before PG signs here.

According to Pelton, last summer 1 WAR cost $2.8M. This year 1 WAR projects to cost between $1.15-$1.75M on the free agent market. The Jazz should really be looking to add one or two quality players for a couple years w/the midlevel this summer.

Harris/Middleton/Klay are all good players, but none of them is likely to be worth the $25-$30M it will cost to be the high-bidder for their services in 2019.

Totally against what I said earlier:

Is my math off or could we sign both Kemba and Tobias next offseason?

-Kemba/Exum (maybe we couldn’t if we sign Dante...)
-DM, Grayson
-Ingles, Royce
-Tobias, Jae
-Rudy, Bradley

I’m going off the idea that the cap will rise to $108m next year, BTW.

Likely need to move crowder for both... I do expect Kemba gets max... so prolly not.

Might be able to trade for him in season... more doable that way.

Klay isn't worth the max?????????????????????????????????????????????

I'll 100% guarantee that Klay gets a max offer (unless takes a discount from the warriors).

538 projects Klay for fewer WAR than Joe Ingles this upcoming season. Klay will also be 29 at the start of what would be his first year on the max contract, 30 y/o by the time the playoffs begin.

I like Klay, but giving a max deal to a 29/30 y/o guy who is good, but not great, is typically a bad bet.

I'm wondering if a trade like AB+Crowder for Deng+Kuz makes sense. I think we'd be giving LA too much, but it would allow us to keep Favors.

Klay is definitely getting the a max contract if he wants one.

Then 538 is stupid.

Klay is bad ***. I would absolutely give him the max to be on team. His game will age well too. He doesnt rely on his athleticsm to get it done.

You must not have been paying attention the last few years. Golden State would likely not have all these trips to the finals without him. Time and time again he has been the one to bail that team out by going bonkers from 3.
