Jazz have arguably the worst bench in the league

I think the big trade that really hurt this year was the trade of Kanter and what the Jazz got back. Hindsight being what it is the Jazz should have kept him then matched any offer. Who coming off our bench averaged 12 points and 8 boards in 20 minutes?
The guy demanded a trade and admitted he wasn't giving 100% effort. There's absolutely ZERO chance keeping him was plausible. He wasn't going to accept a backup role with Utah and his agent would have demanded a trade at every turn.

Not sure of his 2nd half numbers, but I do remember his on/off was negative through the first half of the season.

I think Quin and Dennis have already decided Burke and perhaps Withey will not be with Utah next year. So why give them a lot of minutes? This isn't Corbin with RJ.

Put the other players in pressure situations and let them sink or swim. Maybe, just maybe, one of them will be motivated by failure, just like Kobe after his infamous airball game.
Good post. Makes sense. I thought withey should have played more but what you are saying here is probably the right thing to do

I feel bad for you, fish. I may have been tempted to take that same bet if I had had money to wager. Still feel this team should have won 5-6 more games, even with the injuries. There were just so many they gave away at the end.

Corbin would have played Whithey a lot more this season. Corbin's offense and defense balance is easily = 6th seed.

Are you telling to me that Booker, Mack and Chris Johnson got minutes because they are in the Jazz future plans? The best players have to play no matter what is their contractual situation. Withey played well when he was asked to play and he deserved more consideration. I hope he stays with the Jazz next season too.

Burke was averaging almsost 12 points coming off the bench before the All-Star break, it is a big mystery why he was excluded.

I'm gonna post this again and lets see how many disagree these days -- Going from Kanter to Pleiss was a massive downgrade at the backup C..

Enes posted the 10th highest PER in the league this year at 23

Lol. Pleiss is like a hot steamy pile of turd.

He admitted he wasn't happy in Utah, especially for the way he has been handled. He said his first two seasons were very frustrating.

Maybe to help win the game and get into the playoffs? Next season doesn't matter when the team is one game out.

That is interesting as Kanter has fully accepted a role as a bench guy for OKC. Utah partially traded Kanter because Gobert was the starter. But what if they kept Kanter and still started Gobert? Utah would have best of both worlds and Utah would probably be a 5 seed. Kanter would probably play more than just 20 minutes in Utah and be a beast off the bench. Kudos to OKC for having the balls to pay Kanter $70m and bring him off the bench.

Let's discuss why the hell DL decided to give to Pleiss a multi-year contract for about $10 million over three years.

Caaaakkkkkkk bruh.... cakkkkk

Do you believe he wasn't handled correctly here? If so you must be livid over how Billy Donovan's handling him.

He wasn't handled correctly here. Looking back now, how could you say they shouldn't have tried to trade Al Jefferson or Paul Millsap to clear space for Enes and Derrick.. What would the difference have been?

The $$ could've worked too if they spent wisely elsewhere..

It is just a matter of time him being a starter. Ibaka will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of next season and Adams will be a restricted free agent in 2017.

Oh, I agree he wasn't handled correctly during that time. Honestly, if during that point Kanter had demanded a trade, I wouldn't have blamed him at all.

My problem with him was how he and his agent both said that they didn't have any problems with Snyder, and cited the Corbin era as part of the reason why he was demanding a trade. Odd to demand a trade when the problem was long gone. The truth was that he didn't like his minutes being reduced because he couldn't play defense. So now he's on a team where his minutes are even further reduced because he can't play defense. Funny how that worked.

Well at least we agree on one thing. As long as a given team gets rid of virtually all its other talent at center, Kanter should be a starter.
