Jazz in a 3 team deal?

I just want to note that I don't know much about Ellington besides that he's young-ish, and that I've always thought (at least since the 2009 draft, anyway) that Danny Green would be a nice player in this league. With the Spurs, he's proven that to be true to some degree.

Green could definitely play SF. Even as a Duke fan (clearly the basketball gods are trying to tell me something with all the UNC players talked about here), I would be more than happy with this trade. Please do it.

Interesting trade; so Green is 2 inches shorter but has a longer wingspan than Hayward and played SF in college. Ellington does run the floor well, but haven't seen enough of him in the NBA to really judge. He is listed as a 52% shooter in his last 10 games...

We better be getting a pick or picks back. Or it does nothing for us.

If the almighty KOC gets some picks out of this. I will have a little bit more respect for him and will ease up off him.

Go for the full young rebuild KOC.

It says in the article that additional unnamed pieces would probably be involved.

got it to work... (added TJ Ford & Anthony Randolph)
https://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=89b5cfm

Ford is retired, ie Harpring's trade.
Randolph is paid 800k more than Tolliver which saves Minny some additional money since they're already absorbing 4.9M. He would be the odd 5/6th big but I can see KOC working the phone to see if he can flip Randolph (who I liked coming into the NBA).

This is a dumb trade.
The whole point of this would have to be to get Burks/Hayward more minutes otherwise it adds nothing to the roster to make us a contender or to make us lose.

Thinking about it, I agree... I changed the changed the original proposal to this, as Minny gives us BACK out protected 1st & SA gives them a protected pick!

Spurs get their tough veteran in Howard at the expense of Green/conditional 1st.
Minny gets a veteran PG & an expiring scorer for a pick that was originally ours.
We ship out Tinsley/Howard for taking back *empty* salaries (Ford/Tolliver), get our 1st back, & a tighter rotation at the wings!

I don't think I could dream up a more insignificant trade in a million years.

True dat. I have to go even further: I don't like this trade at all. Josh Howard has fallen off since the beginning of the year, but he has come on lately, is good defensively and is a good all around player who was very excited to potentially finish out his career in Utah. Not too often ya hear that one. On to Tinsley -- here's a guy who was also excited to come in here and become a veteran presence. I liked his game and if Earl wasn't so good and Devin so expensive, Tinsley would get a lot more PT.

And I know almost all of you hate Miles, but you can't tell me that any of the players we're receiving is better than him. Honestly, I wanted CJ gone; I just don't see how this trade benefits the Jazz as clearly as many of the rest of you do. Forget your hate for CJ for two seconds and look at this potential swap more objectively. Both of the players we're acquiring suck. Unless there's some first rounder in there somewhere, that's some pretty weak sauce. If I were the ESPN Trade Machine, I'd say we net 7 losses.

This is just a horizontal trade. We need a trade that can actually make us better. Adding depth isn't really the answer...

Not sure why people are sleeping on Danny Green. While not a star by any measure, he's a hell of a lot smarter and more efficient than CJ. He's also a better shooter and younger than Josh Howard. He's the best player in the deal IMO. Who knows what Ellington will bring to the table.

Danny Green is the exact opposite of CJ, in terms of IQ. Have none of you ever seen Spurs games? Him and Bonner perennially light teams up from long distance, and he plays solid defense.

I am down because we get rid of one of the two players I do not want at all (Bell is the other)

Does this really help our team a lot? No, although it will give us a nice bench for the future

Does this trade help cure my boredom and give me new players to complain about? Yes it does.

Do the trade.

There were rumors a few weeks ago about Beasley being dumped for a trade exception. Not sure how true they were. Obviously if the Wolves value him they would not do this trade. But seeing his recent playing time diminish makes me think its true.
TJ Ford is obviously retiring so he is just to make it work.

Harris - Watson - Free agent scrub
Hayward - Burks - Ellington
Beasley - Hayward - Green
Millsap - Favors
Jefferson - Kanter

Not saying I love it but I like it better than the Tolliver trade. He wouldn't even play. He can only play PF.

Either way I want to see Bell involved in the trade. Beasley is shooting over 40 percent from the 3 point line. He sucks at defense though. He seems like a good player to be the 6th man and play PF and SF the way Odom did with LA. So not so sure I would like this. Just throwing out options.

if we get draft picks then it will be all good. I will be proud of KOC. It's smart to get the most out players expiring you know won't be back

All the players involved are gone after the year but Ellington. So unless we trade for a pick that is all we are going to end up with and i am not sure that is good or not. But I do like the idea of green on the team and maybe a chance to resign him if he is good. Spurs fans seem high on him. I can see why teams are doing it though. I will just be happy to see cj and bell gone. Maybe we can win some road games finally. We could end up loosing both our picks in the draft this year.

Gotta keep reminding myself that many on this board will be furious if the Jazz do nothing, and will be equally furious if the Jazz do anything other than a trade for the end of the bench for an all-star.

The next two days are going to be painful whichever way they go.

Howard, Miles and possibly Tinsley won't be here in the future, so no big loss. Green will be an RFA this offseason, and Ellington has one year left, then he's RFA. That means Ellington is potentially the only long-term piece in this deal, and the Jazz are adding future salary for him. I'm not sure that makes sense unless the Jazz really like Green and are dedicated to keeping him OR they get another piece (pick or player) that makes it worth their while.
