Jazz inquiring about Lou Williams (ESPN)

If this has been leaked, maybe it's not true. DL may want others to chase Lou while he's working on a different deal. Jazz FO has traditionally been very quiet about possible trades - and demands the same of others.

Jeannie had the balls to fire her brother. Good for her.

But the firing happens with the reports they wouldn't give up Ingram for Cousins and they are looking to dump Lou for a 1st round pick?

Either she is mad they didnt take the risk on Cousins or she is mad they are talking about trading Lou. Has to be one of those two for such an abrupt firing. Originally Jim was suppose to be given til next year to turn it around. Kind of confirms by theory Magic/Jeannie really want to make the playoffs next year. Best case for that would have been getting Cousins and keeping Williams. Since they didnt make the move on Cousins people are getting fired.

Yeah pretty much a snowballs chance of signing Sweet Lou with all the interest out there.

Magic on Lou: "I hope he wins 6th Man of the Year b/c he’s playing like that. He’s a valuable guy in our locker room & our team.”

Locke did tweet out something that made me think. Jazz could just consider JJ a full-time 4 for the playoffs, meaning we could pursue more wing help. Idk why I really havent thought about it like that.

I thought of this 15 minutes ago as I was showering. I think JJ could handle the job defensively more often than not and he'd have the advantage on the offensive end imo.

Everyone wants another all star. We don't need a Millsap. We need quality bench players that play certain roles. No point in adding another max contract. We need a stretch 4 that actually stretches the floor. We don't need another starter.

Understandable... Millsap as our starting 4 instead Favors would increase our chances of winning a playoff series or maybe even 2 (Though two probably unlikely). I fully acknowledge however that the completion of such a trade could very well not be good for the franchise in the long term, especially if we had to give up picks.

Compare their stats and get back to me

Williams is 30. Burks is 25.

Williams' USG% is 30.6%. That's not just higher than anyone on the Lakers, but anyone on the Jazz. Bringing him in would require major adjustments, either to his game or everyone else's. Either way, you can't just take the current Lou Williams and drop him in to the current Jazz lineup and expect it to just work.

Williams' DBPM is -3.1, Burks' -0.6.

Also: Williams is producing a lot of career-high stats this season; his 3Pt% and FT% for example, leading to his best TS%; he is shooting at the fastest rate, and getting to the line more than ever before, leading to his high USG%. The Lakers are selling high.

He's a good offensive player having a great year, but he's ball-dominant and a poor defender, so I'm unconvinced that he is a good fit for the current Jazz roster.

I think Magic may want too much for Williams, at least too much that we are not willing to offer for him.
