What's new

Jazz @ Magic | Wednesday November 10th @ 5:00pm

Jalen Rose on ESPN: Dwight Howard doesn't have a player on the Jazz who can block his shot. [Solution: Play a player (Elson, Fes), who can.]

Al is clogging up the offense...no spacing when he's in...he's too stationary....never cuts hard to the basket and sets terrible picks. I say sit him for Fes. The offense runs so much better with Fes, he's twice the rebounder and plays better D.

I'm all for limiting AJ's minutes somewhat until he learns the system, but Fes needs to find out a way not to foul out within 5 mintues of playtime.

Looks like the jazz are mailing this one in.

For all you Fes lovers. He got in the game tonight and did NOTHING. So for hell's sake, stop saying that he's the answer to all our problems

As if Jefferson is? BLACK HOLE on defense. Fes's problem is that he's playing too aggressively. AJ has the opposite problem. Until a player gets 10 MPG consistently, no argument. One minute's playing time is too small a sample size.

Look, if you feel better by blaming Al for everything, then knock yourself out. But the whole Jazz team is not playing well tonight.
It isn't just one guy.

Equally relevant score of the game:
In-game adjustments (replacing Ryan Anderson with Brandon Bass) by van Gundy: 1
in-game adjustments (NOT putting more height in place of 5-turnover Jefferson or 5-times-beaten-off-the-dribble Raja Bell, even though it worked last night) by Sloan: 0

I can barely even look at CJ. He just lets Carter shoot freely. The mouse in the wheel in his head is down to no more than 2 legs.

what is the point of double teaming Howard if we are just going to get creamed by wide open 3's?

That's Sloan D 101. Been going on for years...it will never change....in my opinion that is sloan's biggest weakness in today's game. He hasn't adjusted nor ever will. As good of a game as he coached yesterday he's back to his old senile ways.

I'm not. The two biggest problems have been the perimeter defense and the interior on both ends. Al was the primary problem inside; Raja was the primary problem on the wing. AK isn't scoring, but his impact defensively is partly making up for it. Just like Elson and Fes would.

Deron is pressing and playing poorly, but the alternative is inferior.

Uh, no. Sorry. I may get upset sometimes, and yes, Sloan does let opposing teams shoot threes a lot.
But I'm not going to respect anyone on Jazzfanz who is going to call our Hall-of-Fame coach "senile"
Get lost

"Senile" is a bit harsh. "Stubborn" and "inflexible" is not. These qualities are pretty positive for motivation. They are negative for in-game adjustments.

Update: With Fes and CJ on the flor as I have recommended, Utah has pulled within 4. Fesenko +10 at the moment. Helps to not have Dwight Howard on the floor. But this is exactly what I recommended last night: don't play two undersized PFs together, and don't reward AJ with time that he doesn't deserve.

Looks like we're playing a little better with Fes in there, no? Just like last night. When he get's good minutes we play well. No he's not the answer but the D is so much better and we don't lose as much on offense as everybody thinks.

Fesenko is bumping and pushing Superman--something that Jefferson does very little. Howard drop stepped on Fes too easily, but KF was there with the block. Payoff was good; Superman missed two FTs. That's what happens when you body up a player; they don't have as much strength.

Utah 76-75. Coincidence that Fesenko (and Kirilenko) is part of the comeback--and that Howard is frustrated? I don't think so.
