Jazz may stand pat

Standing pat...may be what happens just because no better options are workable. One more year of team growth and synergy will help. One off season for DM to dissect the playoffs and figure out how to conquer the West. Bring Favs back for roster flexibility, and Exum for the chance he finally stays on the court and grows into the defensive terror/answer we need...if the price is right. Rolls is going to develop more confidence, Ricky is going to get more comfortable, Crowder will grow into his role better, Rudy will come back hungrier than ever and ready to eat souls, and DM is straight out going to explode with an off season to study and work on his game. I love what this team could become. I also think DL is pretty savy and if there is a move to make that makes us better, I'm confident he will not hesitate to pull the trigger on it. If we stand pat, I will still be confident of this team developing into a top contender.

I don’t see us being able to get Khris. If we can, is he sort of a modern Joe Jesus in his ability to play the 4?

I’d be ok standing pat, to some degree. Backup PG and bigs need to be solidified, and the thought of Crowder starting doesn’t fill me with confidence. But, I can definitely see there being more options available closer to the trade deadline and I’m okay with that.

I didnt know where to put this, but Houston got absolutely ****ed by the refs in the first half. Klay got called for 3 deserved fouls but then they let a bunch of stuff go when Houston was rolling.

Durant should have been called for numerous fouls on Capella made buckets. They waved off 2 3 pointers that Harden drew against us. And there were a couple times the ball went off GS but they were given the ball.

Its little **** like that which really helps keep a team around. Add that little stuff to GS getting red hot in the 3rd and you get this result.

Should. I think it takes more to pry Bjelica away, though (although I think the fact that he's already 30 is getting overlooked in all of this).
Oh, if you offer Bjelica the full MLE he is gone. The Wolves arent matching that. I think that kind of offer would be bad on Utah's part though.

if we bloody well come back with the same team that won 80% of games for the last 3 months i'll be so disappointed, like totally bummed
Only a 60-win pace. That's just turrible (in my best Barkley voice).

Jazz have a few questions to answer, which may very well dictate where DL needs to spend his remaining capital.
1. Can Exum be a capable backup PG?
2. Can Crowder improve his shooting and reign in his wild play?
3. Can O'Neale improve his shooting become a decent backup wing?

Of course, Favors's status plays into all of this as well. But Jazz may very well have some of the answers already in house. Or maybe they need a combo guard, or a wing, or a forward who can play 3 and 4.

I think it's folly to assume that the team is just going to be as good or better if you march it back. Teams will not be sleeping on the Jazz and would also have an up-to-date scouting report. The magic might also be diminished. To swing from Locke 'No team in the history of the game comes back the same after the offseason.'

Additionally, isn't this a team that didn't win a championship?

At the same time you can expect improvement at the least from the rookies, and likely see improvements from newer guys with more time in the system.

Houston looked pretty pedestrian when they didn't get the calls they were used to getting, Houston. The offensive juggernaut looked like $#!+, think on that for a sec. Against us they got all those calls. Capella was allowed to get away with all sorts of BS too.

We need DM to get the "star treatment" or it won't matter if we add stud players or stand pat.

I don't think there is a conscious effort to throw games. But I do think there is bias that effects how games are called. If you have the halo, you get the calls... until you play other stars with their own halo.

Okay I just went through a list of every free agent for this off-season. I’ve not seen him mentioned yet and I’m curious about him.

Mike Scott-6’8”-shot 40.5% from 3 on 2.1 attempts per game...how would he be as a stretch 4 along with a Crowder and maybe Sefaloshaz. He turns 30 in July and is a UFA.
