Jazz need shooters desperately

You are probably forgetting to add on the draft picks cap-hold and the minimum roster cap-holds. When I did it (on capulator) they add the trade kicker as well. I went back and fixed that and the lowest I can get to is 22 million, and that's with waiving the draft pick. It's 21 million with the pick.

I had old values on a few of the contracts... Rudy's deal was $1M... off a few thousand on the minimum guys and the draft pick caphold was too low. I assumed kicker was waived (not a completely safe assumption).

$21M with Crowder and no Exum still gets us in the room.

Move on from Tony Bradley and Crowder without taking salary and you are at $28M in room.

Yeah, keeping Crowder would be preferable.

But I think I've decided my best case scenario is trading for Porter and finding a way to get off Exum's money so we can sign Dinwiddie (and if Dinwiddie fails hen pivoting to an Eric Bledsoe or Malcome Brogdon).

Send Dante and Tony Bradley to Atlanta for Lin in January. They get to take a flier on two young guys and we clear some space. As long as Dante is healthy and playing okay we can move him I believe.

I will be slightly irritated if we trade Bradley when he finally has a shot at playing time.

He probably sucks tho.

I'll be more mad if we wait and he finally plays and sucks when we were counting on him being good.

What if you trade him to save a million dollars and he's actually good though? The guy does put up super efficient stats in the G-League despite playing next to a true center.

Then I sign the better veteran version of him for the minimum and feel a little sad.

It would essentially be his rookie year since he's not played at all... I just don't see a guy contributing to winning basketball at a high level in his first NBA season... bigs are cheap and there are lots of them.

Who knows... I wasn't sure we'd pick up the option on him. The extra $1m doesn't likely make one damn difference either way.

If the Jazz don't include Exum in the Porter trade package, the deal to get off Exum might be:

Dante Exum for Dragan Bender and the Suns 2019 2nd round pick.

That would be such a nasty salary dump I doubt DL would do it.

I guess you have to analyze how he's getting his stats. Is it garbage put backs just because he's bigger than everyone else, or does he occasionally show some Jokic type skills that could lead to being a multi faceted big some day. From what I've seen its the former.

I mean, being good at garbage around the rim is what we need from a backup center. I'm not expecting him to an all-star. He does look like he's quicker defending this year.

We should've traded for Jimmy butler. He's better than anyone we have on our team besides Rudy.

Exum is shooting 28% from 3.
That's only 1% less than Mitchell, and 3% less than Crowder. Problem is the latter two combine for 13 3-pt shots a game. Exum only takes 2.

Mitchell and Crowder shooting nearly 30 shots a game combined when both are shooting at 41% overall is the problem. It's not Niang, Exum, O'Neale, or Grayson.

Exum takes wide open ones with days to shoot.

Those other guys take harder looks

How can u blame exum when he takes 2 three's a game. When Crowder and Donovan shoot bout 8 a game and make 1 doesn't make sense
