Jazz not getting into the first round

Mission Accomplished

In the rumor section of ESPN it should have a link to the article. But, it says that teams are asking too much. WTF KOC this is typical of him. Anyone want to read the article and expand.

10 Cents on the Dollar O'Connor, won't overpay, won't sale low. Thats who he is, I'm okay with that.

It is his job if you are cool with another year of the same then it is fine that we don't get into the first round. LOL don't be babies. You act like KOC is the Jazz.

I'm fine with KOC not overpaying. A bad deal is a bad deal. If more GMs understood this they wouldn't find themselves in their current predicaments.

Also, have you ever been to Tijuana? Everytime I've inquired a store owner about the price of his guayaberas he always started off asking too much. There's no sense in offering your best offer at the beginning. It's called negotiating.

I wouldn't read anything into that. You expect GM's to be candid two weeks before the draft?

However, if we are going to move up, IMO, it has to be for Lillard. Consider the other possibilities:

• Moving up for a big: LOL

• Moving up for a wing: …why? The organization is very high on both Hayward and Burks. I have to think they’re slotted as our starting wings (yes, wings. Not 2/3. The 2/3 debate is asinine) for the foreseeable future. We do have a need for more serviceable wings (shooters?), but you don’t aggressively move up into the lottery and trade meaningful assets to do so. I think we’ll fill that void with a vet FA or a UFA.

• Moving up for a PG: now we’re talking. I remember reading somebody (PKM?) had information that they didn’t think Kendall Marshall was an ideal fit for the squad going forward. Not sure I completely agree, but if so, Lillard would be the one in this draft.
If we’re high on Lillard, and view him as a franchise PG (not necessarily elite, but a cornerstone of a championship contender), then I’m all for it. If Harris is part of that deal, great. If he’s not, let Lillard grow behind him and become the guy when Harris expires.

Listening to Locke's interview with KOC, it sounds like the only way the Jazz get into the 1st round is if another team's guy gets picked before that team drafts, then that team would be willing to trade.

We have a bunch of overpaid assets as it is including Big Al, Raja, Harris, and a bunch of trade exceptions burning on our books.

Harris and Raja aren't going to net you a lottery pick. Big Al maybe, but you're still most likely going to have to bring back a bad contract to make that trade. You do understand that the other GMs don't really have our best interest at heart, right? I don't think Dell Demps is thinking, "I'm going to do my boy KOC a solid and give him the 10th pick for Raja Bell and Earl Watson".

What part of "teams are asking to much" did you not understand?

Wasn't that the Jazz strategy last year with #12? I thought the jazz had offers, but their guy was still available on the draft board.

Also, anything that KOC says now until he announces the #47 pick is positioning.

I remember them talking on the broadcast about hearing a rumor that Utah was trying to move up from #12, with the insinuation that Jimmer was the target, although I think it could have been Knight as well.

KOC: Hey man do you want one of our overpaid bum errr ... I mean seasoned veterans?
Random Lottery Team GM:Well maybe. What do you need in return?
KOC: How about Raja for your lottery pick?
RLTGM: umm whaa..
KOC: Haha just kidding bro. How about Harris or Jefferson?
RLTGM: and......?
KOC: Trade exception?
RLTGM: Can you hang on? I have something on the stove.
KOC: Sure no problem.
KOC: Hey man you back yet?
KOC: hello?

The Jazz had one of the cheapest teams in the league last season (as in salary paid), and they are close to having the least amount of salary committed of any organization in the league (if you need someone to hold your hand and let you know what that means, feel free to ask someone else). But I wouldn't expect the biggest dumbass that has ever been on this site to know that.

You should be proud, btw. Keep working on that second red badge. "burning on our books". ****ing classic.

Gist of it: KOC said teams are asking for too much. He said that we got 4 lotto picks in the last 2 years, so basically there not in any rush to add youth to the team. I'm sure he still wants in, but he's not going to show his hand.
