Jazz Offseason Plan

Nola have Hart and reddick coming from the bench, I don't think they need clarkson there unless they make him a starter. Bogey for lonzo makes more sense since they need shooting.

I say this every year, but..... the NBA as a league is dominated by the 6'8" / 220-lb. triple-threat wing. The reason is because they can do everything. They can defend multiple positions, grab a rebound, drive the ball, get to the rim, get an open look from 3pt, get a look from mid-range, and get in the key and make almost any pass on the floor. The game is just made for this type of player.

Look at Gordon Hayward. His dribble was pretty basic. His first step was pretty average. He was a good shooter, not a great shooter. He was a good passer, not a great passer. He could get to the rim, but he wasn't a skywalker. But Hayward impacted every play because he was that prototypical 6'8" / 220-lb wing with ball skills.

The Jazz haven't had that since Hayward left, and that's the guy I'd want to put on the floor between Mitchell and Gobert. Right now, Ingles is kind of a middling imitation of that player. The Jazz need a real one if they want to make the Finals.
Agreed.
That's what I want too.

And now we know what DL was up to all season... he didn't get us a current player to help but he put together two summer league teams... what a sly devil.
When they play each other it's literally a win win
Checkers/chess and all that

According to Tony Jones of the Atheltic towards the end of this interview he talks about how expensive this roster will be if they keep it and add to it, and if they don’t get out of the 2nd round next season “Everyone’s going” Obviously that would point to a lot of the players and they would likely try to regroup. I don’t know if that would include our star players or just the role players, or if it would include front office folks/coaches etc. @Tony Jones could you elaborate a little on your comments at the end. If not that’s okay. Thanks for your work!

Redick was traded to Dallas at the trade deadline and I believe he's now a free agent.

He's a pile of crap... just in case someone wants to sign him after reading that.

Just a thought
Since Walt Perrin left seems Jazz have had a hard time judging talent
Maybe Perrin was very good at finding and evaluating talent
Maybe should have kept Perrin

The thought that's really been troubling me the last couple days is "Georges Niang is going to re-sign for over market value, isn't he?"

Just be prepared for that.

Isn't this the guy that found us the likes of Trey Lyles, Tony Bradley, Oliver Hanlan, Bolomboy, Marcus Paige, Ty Wallace, NWG, JWF, Brantley and Oni?
He was DL’s guy that setup a thousand workouts so anytime there was a great deep draft find he could say “we were really high on him... he was in for a workout” and he gets some credit for finding that guy that we didn’t pick. It’s a brilliant strategy.

But they were trying to move up and grab a pick to get that guy but nobody would budge, so instead we took a bunch of other guys in front of him.

We couldn’t draft Oni Brantley JWF and Dort... we only had three picks ya dummy!

The funny thing about this is that, although it'd be nice to have landed one of those guys, I don't at all fault the FO for something like that. It's when the FO comes out after the fact trying to take credit for something they "almost" did or "wanted to" do. Just shut up. Then of course when you criticize the FO for trying to take credit for something they didn't do, you're met with...

Probably. That’s what the Jazz do — overpay for players that no one else wants. I doubt Niang has any other suitors.
In other summers yes... this summer no. Since the tax is here in a big way I expect we play hardball with Niang... Mike has us over a barrel though. So I’m guessing it’s either like a 3/60M or he walks to ring chase.
