Jazz players at the World Cup

Does Parsons making the team over Hayward mean Parsons > Hayward, at least in Coach K's eyes? If so, that hurts.

But honestly we should probably be more upset Plumlee might actually make the 12 man roster over Favors even getting an invite.
Is this a surprise to anyone on the board that parsons>hayward? As a third option, he had identical stats to hayward's, but shot 53%/37% from the 2/3, compared to hayward's 46%/36%..

Their career %s are much closer. I like Parsons, I think he is underrated. However, I give his additional shooting stats a lot of credit to the other players on his team that got him wide open shots. With the caveat that I, like all of you, am a huge Jazz homer, I think Hayward is an overall better player, and would be a better fit on the USA team. Honestly, I would consider keeping them both on the team. Except for a few teams (mostly Spain) the competition does not have a lot of bigs, and both Hayward and Parsons could play the four as well. I hope he makes it, but based on PT, he probably won't.

I honestly think last year conditioning was part of Gobert's problem at the FT line. I think he has gotten used to a faster paced game and will do fine at the FT this year (knock on wood)

Did anyone actually defend Parsons though? Hayward in Al, Millsap land shot 44%/42%. That 42% from 3 is pretty sexy. . . Against second stringers as a rookie he shot 49%/47% Of course that was with more than half a season with a Jerry Sloan offense.
I like Hayward much better as a defender too.

Drummond getting cut while Plumlee stays on is a travesty.

Makes for great recruiting, though. Come to Duke and you have a great shot at playing on a world-wide level and in the Olympics. Go to another university and you won't have an inside track. I think everyone sees this for what it is: recruiting, donations, etc. But we can't complain too loudly. After all, our head coach has Duke ties.

AS for Parsons vs. Hayward, I agree Gordon is more versatile. But he's also coming off a bad year. Selfishly, I'd actually like to see him cut from the team. Might give him a chip on his shoulder and incentivise him to start working with Snyder immediately. Time with Quin is likely >>> time with the US team (especially since he hardly plays). I like the report that Gordon and Quin have been conversing on a regular basis. Now he needs to get to work on learning the new Jazz offense and what his role (and position) will be.

Brazil vs Slovenia is on:
Livescore - here: https://live.baskethotel.com/kzs/?&lang=1
Stream here: https://4d.rtvslo.si/zivo/tvs2

Neto hasn't played yet.

Australia vs Finland is on, too... I don't have stream for that, but here's a livescore: https://www.fibalivestats.com/matches/3886/12/48/13/79P0OBHj9dOIg/ . Exum starts on the bench.

Neto is in. Starts off with a rebound and an assist.
Neto with tip in in transition.
Neto fouled on his drive to the basket. Scores both FT.
Neto with a great steal and assist.
End of the first half. Brazil leads 43:29, Neto played 7 minutes, 4pts(1/1 FG, 2/2 FT), 2rbs, 2 ast, 1 steal
Neto starts second half on the bench.
Neto in with 3 mins to go in the third.
Neto loses the ball and fouls a Slovenian player on the layup attempt.
Brazil are about to allow a turn around of over 15 points in a second game in a row. Score is 52:50 after 3 Quarters, they were leading by 18-19 at the beginning of Q3.
Q4: Nice contest on the 3pt shot by Neto. Neto out.
End of the game, Brazil wins after OT 88:84.
Neto finishes with 4pts(1/1 FG, 2/2FT), 2 rbs, 2ast, 1 st, 1to in about 12:30 of play.
---------
Exum with uneventful first quarter - 1 reb, 0/1 from 3 in about 5 minutes of play.
Exum in with about 5 mins to go in the second quarter. Exum out... with 2 to go in the second.
End of second Q. Exum finishes with just 1 reb, 0/1 in 8 minutes of play. I wonder if he played off the ball. Motum with 4 pts(2/3 FG) and 3 rbs. in about 6 minutes of play.
Exum starts on the bench the second half. Exum in with 8 to go in the third.
Exum out with 2 to go in the third. He's got 1rb and 1 assist.

If this were an NBA tournament, you guys may have a point…but it's not.

Plumlee fits the role they want him to play better. Drummond can't hit free-throws, and that's a big deal. Would I take Drummond over Plumlee in the NBA? Without a doubt, not even close. In FIBA ball, as just a role player? Depends on what type of team I have.

Does anyone else find Exum's sub patterns to be odd. in with 5 to go then out with 2 to go?

Starting the 2nd half then in with 8 to go in the same quarter? That means he came out and went back in...

Newly traded Erik Murphy will play for Finland.

No Drew Gooden as speculated. (Believe it or not he's half Finnish. I mean both Finland and being washed up...
Finland is in the same group with USA and Turkey.
