Jazz Playoff Watch

I could merge them but frankly, this thread only works if someone updates it constantly and if his post is the first post on the thread.
My intent is to update every 3-4 days (at least the key games). I'll PM to unsticky and lock if I'm unable to do that.

Nie work. It looks like Saturday will be a good day for us. Either way 2 of the teams we are chasing will lose.

This just in: Bad news for Denver.

Spanish Olympic team takes another blow. Nuggets announce guard Rudy Fernandez to have lower back surgery and will miss rest of season.

That's 3 of Denver's top 5 players that have been removed from the team: Rudy, Gallinari, and Nene

For those too lazy too look at the schedules every day, I'm posting the key games to watch over the next few days and will update as needed - provided there's enough interest. If so, mods can sticky the thread.

I won't bother with the division leaders, as I doubt Utah has a shot at catching OKC, SA or the Lakers. But there is a real chance at moving up perhaps all the way to #4 - and who wudda thunk it the week before the deadline?. Well, I guess KOC and Ty, but what do they know?

Anyway, as of 3/21, here are the conference standings of the teams having a shot at the playoffs:

Utah is just 2 games back of Memphis, LAC and Dallas for the 4th seed. And just 1/2 game back of Houston for #8. Jazz now have 1 1/2 game lead over Phoenix and 2 over Minnesota. Need to keep an eye on both those teams as they could make runs.

A few things that really stand out to me are the number of home games Dallas and Denver have played. Utah has a good shot at catching both of those teams as they'll have road-heavy schedules down the stretch. And the Clippers have been...well, playing like the Clippers of old. And look at the last column. The Jazz have the best record of all the WC teams over their last 10 games. AMAZING!
Wow I never realized we are only three games out of the 4th playoff spot!

Rudy is not a top 5 player on Denver. In fact, he is probably one of their worst rotational players.

GS has really let us down today against Houston. But the Clipps are in a competitive game, and losing by 1, to the Hornets. Come on, Hornets!

I saw Mo Williams left the Clipper's game tonight with a big toe injury. Not sure on the severity, but toe's can be a major problem. That is a huge loss for the Clips.

Jazz are one loss away from the 5 seed right now. One loss.

And the way this season is going, anything can happen. So dang good that the jazz pulled out the game tonight. If you want to cry that the jazz barely beat a bad team....well, the Clippers went into New Orleans and turfed it.

Kings have been hot as hell lately, so even beating them felt good-- even if we did lose a 14 point lead and barely squeak by with a win.

espn bottom line said that several players on the Clippers have said that the Vinny Del Negro has lost his team and the players want a change. With less than 20 games left --ha ha.

I will ignore the temptation to blast the spoiled players, and the chance to criticize Cris Paul and focus on the idea that KOC's #5 declaration may actually be attainable.

I had heard that too. Guess we should give Ty some credit, as KOC did, for having 14 guys that deserve playing time and for playing all of them. Winning helps, of course, as do the injuries to Raja and Howard. I feel kind of sorry for Jeremy; he's the odd man out.

I find it disgusting that guys who are getting paid millions of dollars may not play as hard because they dont like their coach.

Yeah, they "just wanna win" right?

You'd think Chris Paul would step up and be a leader and tell the team "Look, I don't give a damm who is coaching. We are trying to win here!"
