Jazz Playoff Watch

I will ignore the temptation to blast the spoiled players, and the chance to criticize Cris Paul and focus on the idea that KOC's #5 declaration may actually be attainable.

Same here, I will avoid the temptation to say that I think Chris Paul is a selfish punk who gets way too much pub but never comes through in the playoffs, and that this whole Lob City crap is just crap, and that nobody should be surprised that the Clippers are not so great, and that Vinny Del Negro should have never even been considered to be a head coach at the NBA level.

I'm just not going to do that.

There are 2 teams I'm worried about if we play them in the 1st round: Dallas and Lakers

The other 5 we can beat.

I'm actually not so worried about LA this year.

for me the team I want no part of is Dallas. I feel like on paper we should match up well against them but we just don't seem to know how to defend them well at all. The next team I want no part of would be OKC. I think by the time the regular season is over the Spurs will have no energy left thanks to the condensed season, and they will probably be dealing with injuries like in normal years. As far as the Lakers go, they aren't what they used to be. With out Odom they are not as big a problem as they once were. We also finally have the length to combat theirs.

I think that if we can avoid Dallas and OKC, we got a chance.

Actually we can beat Dallas, but not in the 1st round.

There is no way Dallas and Lakers will lose in the 1st.

Yes, we can have a good battle with Lakers, but Kobe is still strong and the refs will do their job.

But late in the playoffs when madness begin everything is possible.

When is the last time that we've beaten Dallas again? The team is seriously our kryptonite.

I'd just double Dirk, except never off Terry. You never leave Terry.

If the rest of the team can beat you, they beat you.

Not saying that'd work for sure, just how I'd approach it. Try to force the ball away from Dirk and contain Terry.

Hey Glasseater, can you make this table as pretty as yours? Is there a site that will quickly do it?

Tough schedule for Pho, Den, and Dallas. Only LAC and SAS have easier schedules than Jazz according to this.

I'm at a loss re: tables. The one I have in Excel (in the lottery thread) looks great in Excel and when I edit it in the thread, but then it posts differently.

I just got lucky with the standings table in this thread. I copy it directly from CBS sports.

I'd like to get a mid-seed. We could take Memphis, Denver, ESPN's The Clippers, and Houston. Everyone else I'd like to avoid. If we have to play an elite team I'd prefer to play the Lakers, as we match up well with them and we can't beat either of the elite Texas teams.

if the jazz keep playing at this insane pace we're going to see the jazz vs the bulls in the finals again. ;) OKAY wishful thinking. im a dreamer, but! they do a legit shot at this.

I'm just scared about their road problems.

As if to rub salt in the trade deadline wounds, the Jazz employees on the radio just keep blabbing about how the jazz are battling tonight with the Timberwolfs for playoff possition. Truth is they are playing the wolfs tonight, the wolfs are 2 games ahead of the jazz, but the Wolfs are not in the playoffs and the way the jazz play there is no way they can catch Minny let alone the 8th spot.

Does anyone not employed by Miller Inc. believe this Jazz team can make the playoffs?

When is the last time we've beaten the Spurs? They destroy us in the regular season and playoffs. That's the team the Jazz need to avoid.

Yes, they destroy Jefferson, Millsap, Raja, and CJ. But we haven't given Kanter, Favors, and Burks a shot at them, have we?
