Jazz Playoff Watch

How in the condensed schedule did Houston get such a huge break? They played last night but now don't play again til Friday? Lame.
Well, Utah had a break early in the season with a ton of home games and more time in between. Guess that's more valuable later in the season when players are fatigued. On the other hand, I think it benefitted the Jazz by giving all the young guys more time to acclimate to each other.

Ah, there is atleast one more person on this board who feels this way.

Looks like a lot of folks here want the Jazz to have 6-8 guys on rookie contracts, competing with each other for mins, while the Jazz struggle to finish games and lose. And then, when their rookie contracts are up, we promptly lose atleast 3-4 players.

Jazz have their task cut out on the trade and FA signings front if they want to contend in 2-3 years

Two rookies?
Most 2nd-rounders don't make a team and we are NOT getting the GS pick this summer. Warriors may win 1-2 more games - tops. And there are a number of teams within 1-2 wins of them right now. I wouldn't be surprised to see GS slip all the way to #4.

Yes, I'd take another good rookie from this draft, no question. Drafting #14 this year is like getting a #7 pick in the last couple of drafts. I'm not sure what KOC is going to do. Most likely some of the trades he hinted at were contingent on having first round picks in this draft. Most likely nothing will be done, the Memo TPE will expire and then Utah will just say goodbye to Jefferson and Harris without getting anything in return. So yes, a draft pick would at least give us the POSSIBILITY of adding an eventual starter or solid rotation player.

But I don't remember them ever getting 2 games in 5 days.

So if I assume everything in here is fact then the Jazz's pick equals automatic up grade to OKC status. Second is that Corbin is complete crap and without him the Jazz would near be undefeated (save Knicks cause of Linsanity and Sacto cause of Jimmermania) and anything positive was just blind/dumb luck and everything negative is completely his fault intentionally.

Don't for get the FU to anyone that thinks your most hated players may have value to the team. Really ties the post together.

Thanks. Hope first words will be Stockton or Malone or perhaps Bell sucks. Hope to have him see a Jazz championship banner raised in 3 years.

I taught my 2 year old to say CJ! after I yell it at the computer screen.

Nah, we've got a great chance at making the playoffs.
If you don't want to make the playoffs, then we've got a great chance that Ty will keep playing a gassed out Jefferson in crunch time.

You just lost 2 winnable games at home. Now you expect them to get those 2 loses back in San Antonio and Memphis maybe even a bigger game in Houston? HA!

@houston is a very winnable game. we blew them out here, and they beat us there behind a great night from lowry, who won't play.

and honestly, that's really the only road game that's a MUST-win, provided we take care of home court. if we win at home and at houston, we're at 35 wins and own tiebreakers against both the rockets and the nuggets. and, in case we drop another home game like SAS or DAL, we still have chances to get road games back like @por, @noh.

we're only 1.5 games out, and neither houston nor denver is playing great ball.

With no GSW pick I can't believe some people still want to make Playoffs at 7-8 seed. It's mind boggling considering how we have been playing lately.

first problem with your logic: you are assuming we won't get the GSW pick. i still think we will.

second problem with your logic: you're assuming that a 14th pick in the draft (marcus morris, patrick patterson, earl clark, anthony randolph, al thornton, ronnie brewer, rashad mccants, kris humphries, etc.) is going to be such a difference-maker that it's worth more than the invaluable playoff experience we'd be giving favors, hayward, burks, etc.

the 14th pick is not a huge asset. look at that list. not a single impact player on that list. thornton was good for a minute but now is out of the league. patterson is in and out of houston's lineup. brewer is a role player. it took humphries 7-8 years to become the 4th best player on a lottery team.

and you want that over the playoffs -- THAT's mind-boggling.

Playoffs would be sweet. It would be cool to see Al earn the experience. He might even thrive and increase his trade value. His game is kinda made for the playoffs. Games slow down, defenses tighten up, and at least he can get a decent shot pretty much whenever.

Then again, the 13-14 pick in this draft could probably get us Lillard or Marshall. Those are guys who probably wouldn't be available at 14 in any other year, but it seems like all the top guys are declaring, and at least four of them should have declared last year.

It's going to be pretty easy to make the best of it, whatever happens.

You may think whatever you want. The sad fact is they are 1 win from #7 and do tank hard opposite to teams below them.

This year draft is twice as deep as any other year we had lottery pick before past few years. #14 is equal to 7-9 range in an ordinary draft. Which could net us someone like Burks. Moreover, we are not #14 but rather #13 and if we tank hard enough we can get to #10. So yes I will pick #12 pick in 2012 draft over 1st round exit 7 days a week.

then we fundamentally disagree on the value of having guys who have playoff résumés. you know what you get when you put together a team full of late lottery picks that haven't been the playoffs? the golden state warriors. if that's your goal, then you go right ahead and root for tanking. i'll be pulling for the jazz to win tonight.
