Jazz Pre-Draft Camps and Workouts

Finally some word about who else is in town to work out with Quayle-

Jazz to work out six players today
The Salt Lake Tribune

Kentucky power forward Patrick Patterson tops a group of six prospects who will participate in a pre-draft workout today at the Utah Jazz's practice facility.

Joining Patterson will be Georgia Tech power forward Gani Lawal, Virginia Commonwealth power forward Larry Sanders, English forward Ryan Richards, California guard Jerome Randle and Utah State guard Jared Quayle.

Patterson (6-foot-8, 240) averaged 14.3 points and 7.4 rebounds during his junior season at Kentucky. He is expected to be taken somewhere between No. 6 and No. 12 in the draft, which will be held on June 24.

Utah owns the No. 9 pick in the first round.

Lawal and Sanders are interesting--late first rounders to early second round picks--Jazz don't have a pick in that range.......
Ryan Richards a 6-10 pf/c from England had a terrific Chicago camp creating alot of buzz.

The PF from France is very intriguing in my opinion. It just sucks big time that we don't know his measurements and he can't workout right now. I've read he's 6'9" without shoes and has a long wingspan but who knows how accurate that is. He does look pretty chiseled and is listed, if my memory is correct, at 258. A Boozer replacement with a bit more length, more athleticism, and more defense. This would allow us to start Millsap (and have this guy back him up), S&T Boozer (or let him go which would suck), and by moving back, pick up a veteran, a defensive 5, or more picks.

I assume you are talking about Seraphin-- DX has his measurements in their Twitter feed

Kevin Seraphin is in Treviso getting measured. Came out 6-9 in shoes, 278, w/7-3 wingspan, 9-1 standing reach. Walking normal, knee is fine.

Probably be a bit petty with my whining here, but is it just me or does our interview team just suck comparatively? Are these guys the actual sports media from the SLC market or the Jazzbot contributors? I don't know, I almost enjoy just going around to other teams' websites and watching their interviews instead.

Someone wouldn't shut up next to me, but I heard 1320 KFAN say Alrdidge and Udoh and couldn't hear the rest are coming for a workout Thursday 6/10. They will probably rehash the story.

OK - got the names off 1320's blog - Jazz to workout Udoh, Brackins, Bradley, Whiteside, Aldrich, and Scheyers tomorrow.

Must draft Scheyer. Think poor man's Reddick. After this workout we will have seen almost all players likely to be their at 9 that we are interested in. Think KOC will tell us who has been the most impressive

I had to look up Brakins....6'10" 230 lbs, from Iowa State--was projected as a lottery pick last year, but chose to go back for one more year. Interesting.

According to draft express He has huge hands and great verticle leap & reach. Last year he had to carry his Iowa State team and drew frequent double teams without much gaurd help. Could he be one of those under-valued assetts KOC likes?

But he's projected early second round. Jazz are kind of all over the place with these last two workouts.

Ed Davis will be the only player in the Jazz range that they have yet to bring in.

Which probably means he's the guy they're targeting (a la Ronnie B.).

Jazz needed to bring in some guys that are projected late 1st/early 2nd. There's always a chance they're looking to move down - or will get an offer on draft night. I still think the way to go is try to trade the #9 for Minnesota's or Memphis' 2 picks. There are a bunch of SF's we could get at 12 or 16 and some very good back-up types at the end of the 1st.

Hopefully, we can get Davis in. Have to look at his athleticism and length as a possibility. Wonder if he has been able to bulk up any with the injured wrist he had. Last year with his injury and horrible guards kind of set him back, but he has all sorts of talent. Maybe a couple of years away though. Not sure DWill would like.

Nice reality check. I looked up the Kansas Iowa St game to see what Brakins and Aldrich did against each other. Brakins had 1 rebound, 2 blocks and 13 points. Aldrich had 11-3-19. But in fairness it was said that Iowa State had a weak gaurd line, thats probably why Xavier Henrey from Kansas went 2 for 10 shooting and 0-fer 6 from the 3point line with not much else in his state line.

From Siler:

Hassan Whiteside was a jaw-dropper in conversation, said he struggled in today's workout.

Wow. Not sure what to make of this. At least he's honest...
