What's new

Jazz Scrimmage 2pm MT Time Today

HE had a nice stretch in the third quarter I think where he hit Gobert on a couple lobs out of PnR. I think that's what people are remembering. I've always thought Neto could be a solid backup PG if given the role. I don't want him to have that role this year, though.

Neto gives everything he has. What he has normally isn't enough to make much impact on either side of the ball. He's a really likable guy, and everyone wants him to succeed, but if you're going to be that small, you have to be extraordinarily skilled or athletic. Neto is neither of those things.

He looks like a good player, but he needs to be able to hit threes and stretch the floor to be effective. More than any other player I think he needs to be shooting 38% or better to be really valuable.

Jerebko did a good job running the floor and finishing a few breaks. We need that, actually.

I think Favors is gone either by the trade deadline or as a free agent. I just don't see him fitting next to gobert.

I agree. He has to sit there and watch Gobert eat every feed at the rim and grab every rebound. Gobert is bigger, longer and more mobile than Favors. Gobert just dominates the paint with his length and mobility, whether he has the ball or not. In the scrimmage, it looked like Favors was relegated to an energy big waiting to clean up misses, like a Tristan Thompson, and nothing more.

If I were Favors, I'd want out. He just isn't that involved. The Jazz's offense is also better with Johnson and probably Jerebko spacing the floor and moving the ball.

Defensively though, Favors can guard all the way out to the perimeter, which is nice.

Watching the highlights of the Lakers/T'wolves pre-season game, a couple things come to mind--

1) Kyle Kuzma is probably already better than Jerebko.

2) Watching Jeff Teague makes me think Donovan Mitchell will ultimately play at the PG. Mitchell is an explosive, 2-way lead guard when it's said and done. He's like Jet Terry or Jeff Teague.

Kuzma was ballin! Made some really impressive moves in the paint, handles the ball and has that outside shot.

Main thing that stood out to me (I only watched about 2 minutes lol) is Ball's ugly *** jump shot. Man that thing is hideous. Saw him shoot an ugly *** 3 ball that was an air ball.
Saw him make a floater in the paint but even that was ugly and awkward

Trey lyles debut, 33% from the field, 0-2 from three, 2-4 from the line.
-10 (team worst) in plus minus. His assist and rebound numbers were good though.

I hope he can get better for his sake but man I'm glad Denver helped us out.

I don't think Lonzo's jumper is ugly, it's just unorthodox. He has a quick release, rotation, and arc.

Neto "replaces" someone when his $efficiency is better suited for the team being the cost effective 3rd.

Exum will show who he is this year. I'm still hopeful because he needs extended NBA level playing time to show his true potential. Summer league plus this scrimmage report has me excited for him.

With betrayward gone and favors significant Injury trouble, the jazz had to take a step back in finding a team identity. Get some new guys, grow a few guys. I'm not sure if I'm blinded by fandom, but I was not crushed by Hayward leaving because I was not seeing that the chemistry was there for the jazz to go to next level. Sort of la clipper ish. Great Talent but not great chemistry. (Not that Hayward was jerk, just not hearing about great chemistry). With gobert having full team leader ownership, will see how this group of guys can be a building step as a team.

Cool. To each their own.

I think what he's trying to say is that, yes the release is ugly, unlike someone like Ronnie Brewer, who's realease is ugly has no arc, and ball has side rotation. The shot isn't broken like Brewer's is. Just needs to adjust to speed of the NBA and I think get stronger.

The release isnt ugly tho. The only thing that is weird is the gather.

No doubt. I just think his form is ugly.

I only saw Ball in Summer League but he has elite court awareness and BB IQ, like a Bird or Magic, and he's how old? He's going to be an all-time great passer if he doesn't get injured.

i watched some of the Lakers game and Kuzma is interesting but his 1 for 4 on 3s can be a little disconcerting and the Nuggets had no interior defense. He is a good talent and will probably make Randle expendable this summer.

My mum tells me the same thing, "You're not ugly, you just look unorthodox".

Semi related, I've actually had a number of people tell me I look like Lonzo.

You mean the Timberwolves?

First time a shooter has ever gone 1/4 from teh 3pt line. Super disconcerting.
