What's new

Jazz Scrimmage: Oct 6th 4pm MST

I can't decide if I think you're really drunk or just doing a nice imitation. Either way it's entertaining though.

He might be right. During the dance-off, there's this dude -probably Darnell Jackson- sitting near DeMarre Carroll was looking at Enes like he was gonna kill him to get rid of his stupidity. He looks like the kinda guy, who is a jerk when someone takes over the show even if it's in a clown act way.

Fortunately not yet.

U heard of the Turkish Head? Watch any Jackie Chan lately? That's what he calls it. If you'd met it before, you would remember. You wouldn't remember whatever's after though.

I'm going to walk away from this Jackie Chan Turkish Head topic.

Hayward was the most impressive player today. He was the top scorer (21 points, I believe), but did it in his usual, quiet way. He scored in every way: 3's, mid range jumpers, driving to the hoop for a slam, getting to the FT line. His passing was, as per usual, great. His ball handling seemed tighter to me, and he really seemed to drive at will. Very excited to see that. Overall, he just looked like someone who has figured it out.

Favors had some great 3 point plays early on (one from a drive on Millsap), but didn't do a ton in the 2nd half. Finished with 11 points.

Kanter looks great. The reports we heard over his improved confidence were not over-exaggerated. He seems to have the biggest personality on the team now. Basketball-wise, he ran the floor like none other, converting on 4 fast break dunks, and 2 FT's from being fouled in the fast break. He also drained a 17 footer, and did his up and under once. For those concerned over his ability to shove people around still, I wouldn't worry. He plowed over the fat, white guy in the post one time and dunked over him, even if he was called with a charge. Oh, and I felt his passing looked better. When he got the ball in the high post last year, he seemed very nervous about what to do with it. Today, he seemed aggressive about finding the right pass. Kanter impressed, no doubt. Finished with 14 points.

Burks played PG 90% of the time, and did alright with it. He really pushed the ball in transition and made pretty good passes. He didn't score till the second half (due to playing PG), but really exploded at the end there. Had a 3 points play, corner 3, and a NASTY dunk at the end. Scored the winning team's final 5 points. Finished with 8.

Foye looked good. Made one 3, and always seemed to get to the hoop for a layup when there was an opening. Finished with like 13.

Marvin had some great dunks in the first few minutes, but didn't play a ton after. Not much else to say.

Murphy was a nice surprise. The dude looks like he can really shoot. Drained three after three, and actually made some good passes. Although, like others have said, chucked a little too much down the stretch. Finished with 15.

This is going to be a fun season.

Thanks for the recap. I'll rep you when I can.

Very good to hear about Kanter. At UK he was the beast of a personality.. hated to see him look so, I don't know, depressed/lost.

I think it's time to stop underestimating Haywards potential. It always drives me nuts when I read how people think Burks has more potential. This is ridiculous. I don't know if Hayward will be an Allstar this year or not, but I think he'll play well enough to get lots of consideration. I feel we have two cornerstone players in Hayward, and Favors, if so, this gives us a decent shot at the championship in the coming years.

Only one I've found so far, and I have been checking like crazy.

It sounds like more than anything he just feels more comfortable. Add that with what is obviously a good work ethic (it's not easy to lose 50 pounds), and you have to be excited.

I'm really really psyched to watch Hayward, Favors, Kanter, and Burks as we go forward. Hard to believe that we traded a franchise player just a year and a half ago.

They both have immense potential. All four of the lottery picks do.

I really can't overstate how impressed I was by Hayward yesterday. If he was open, he shot it with confidence. That's been one of my biggest complaints about him thus far: being too passive, at times. Yesterday, he looked like he had the mentality and confidence to just shoot the damn ball whenever the chance came. But he still managed to get everyone involved at the same time. I'm not expecting him to get off to a slow start this year, like he has in the past. 15/4/4 seems like a very reasonable expectation to me for this season. Though, maybe he'll surpass those numbers, if we manage to trade Al.

Yo BillyShelby, you wanna weigh in on this? Dissin your boy Al whilst hyping Mr. NearHisCeiling... blasphemous.

Hayward is the player I'm most excited to watch this year.

Trading Al is the prospect that gets me most excited overall.

was also very pleased to see the four on the same team, the coaching staff at least nodded to what the fans want.

Here's a video of a girl dancing in the crowd. At the end of the video, a possible jazzfanz member passes with beer.

I'm expecting these 2 to fight in practice. Darnell thinking Enes is a retard. Enes feeling sad and making him pay. D-Block retaliating. Then a great friendship getting born.
