Jazz select Isaiah Collier at pick 29

Here are the numbers from his 11 games he played after returning from injury in the middle of PAC12 season.

17.6pts, 3.3reb, 4.5ast, 1.8stl, 0.3blk, 2.8to

47/39/69 (6.4fta and 2.83pa)
thanks for posting those numbers. i think one of the underrated aspects of Collier's game is his ability to get to the FT line. His FT rate was at 50% - which i would guess is top 5 in the draft at worst, perhaps #1 among guards. he just needs to get his make rate into the 75-80% range, at least.

Agreed. I always worry when a high FT volume guard shoots such a low percentage in college. If he can't get his percentages up he will have a hard time in the NBA.

He also needs a runner and better jumper, but those can be developed.

Yeah but I’m sure you’re aware the NBA 3 is further out.. plus defenders are longer.
39% from three after coming back from injury. the biggest thing you want to see from young players over the course of a season is improvement - he did that. his other issue was turnovers, and he cut those down significantly as well.

I get it. But I'm just saying it's not Crazy concerning. There's some hope there.

And fwiw Jaylen Brown shot 29% from 3 and 65% from the line his Freshman season. Collier was 34% and 67% respectively. Hopefully he's a hard worker. Seems like there's at least a little touch there. I'm actually more concerned that though he's lauded as a terrific passer, kind of a turnover machine. Is he just gonna be Emanuel Mudiay with a tad more touch? Man I hope not.

The CBS guy was saying his shot looks worse than his % suggests.

I’m not sure that’s true or not though.

He’s quicker going to the basket than Mudiay to my eyes fwiw.
